I had xbmc installed and working but my current GPU (nvidia geforce 9400 I believe) did not have HDMI out. I bought a new card that had HDMI (Radeon HD4650), put the card in the computer and when I booted XBMC with HDMI it went straight to the terminal prompt. When I press ctrl-alt-f7 to go to the XBMC GUI it just goes to a blank screen. Additionally, while the terminal is the only thing I can see and work with even it will flicker at about 30 second intervals. Anyone have any idea what to do about this? Is the new card I bought not compatible? Please help me...

PS:

Assuming I can get this working, anyone know an easy way to get XBMC to recognize my 2 other internal hdds? They weren't showing up when I had it installed before and I'm not very good with Linux terminal so I didn't know what to do.
You didn't read one of the 9 thousand threads that said "Don't buy an ATI card if you plan on reading linux"?

Also, Xorg.conf is still looking for Nvidia drivers/nvidia card. SSH in and regenerate it

Sorry, but no, I didn't. If I had I would not have purchased the card I did. What I really need is not someone being a smart-ass, but someone who actually cares to help someone in need.

More detailed instructions would be helpful since, as I stated in my first post, I'm not very good with linux terminal.

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help.
Assuming you can get to ssh. (If you can't google "linux ssh")

Code:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

Should do it.

or try
Code:
sudo X -configure

http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=ch...nerate+ati
My xorg.conf when I started this was this:

Code:
# nvidia-xconfig: X configuration file generated by nvidia-xconfig

I ran the first command then checked xorg.conf and it hadn't changed. I rebooted the pc then checked again and still no change. I did the same with the other command and now xorg.conf reads:

Code:
# nvidia-xconfig: X configuration file generated by nvidia-xconfig

These appear to be identical to me, so I'm assuming the commands either failed or worked but didn't have the intended results. There were no errors that I saw when running them, although when running
Code:
sudo X -configure
I got the following readout
Code:

ddxSigGiveUp: Closing log
Right at the end it says "Number of created screens does not match number of detected devices. Configuration failed." Not sure if that's a good thing or not.

Another command I ran as part of some troubleshooting steps from another forum was
Code:
lspci -nn | grep VGA
which gave me
Code:
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: nVidia Corporation C77 [GeForce 8300] [10de:0848] (rev a2)
03:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc RV730XT [Radeon HD 4670] [1002:9490]

I'm just trying to anything I can to avoid having to get another vid card for this pc as this is the third one I've tried.

Thanks for your help, and any more would be most appreciated.
Disable the onboard video in BIOS.
Is there any way you can return the card and get a Nvidia one? Even the cheapest Nvidia card out there (GT210) will do better in the long run thanks to better drivers.
