Full Version: [LINUX] Is there anything that could be blocking "irw"?

I'm spawning a new thread from this old one.

I've gone through all of the steps described in that thread.

I can see IR activity when I run
Quote:irrecord

But when I run
Quote:irw
and ultimately when I try and use the remote on my Live install, I get absolutely no activity. I've been working on this for a week, and am at a total loss.

I have:

Antec Fusion V2 Chassis (LCD is working as expected)
Harmony 900 (RF-IR blasting the htpc)
Latest Release of XBMC Live (from downloads section, not SVN)

So ultimately, is there anything else in this system that could be preventing IR from working? It's strange that it can see irrecord but irw doesn't see activity.
As per this page

Quote:When you press keys a line for each will appear in the terminal. Remember that without the ~/.lircrc file (in your home) nothing will actually happen.

How do I check for ~/.lircrc?
I just ran the following and it said it was creating a new file.
Quote:~/.lircrc

I also found this on the lirc website, but the lircrc file doesn't exist in either the "etc/lirc/" directory or my home folder.

Quote:o do this you need a file called .lircrc. It should be placed in your home directory. Optionally you can create a system-wide configuration file located in /etc/lirc/lircrc, which will be used when no .lircrc file can be found in the user's home directory.
