Hello,

First time poster here so please go easy on me.

I've been trying to get my remote control for my ASRock ION 3D 152d working but nothing I do helps.

The first thing I did was to try the guide from ASRock home page but didn't help.
When I
Code:
sudo dpkg -i lirc-nct677x-1.0.4-ubuntu10.04_kernel2.6.32-25.deb
I get to configure lirc but get a lot of [fail] in the output:
Code:

Being a complete lirc noob, I have a hard time to continue from here. I'm not sure with which error to start. I've googled for hours following different guides but nothing seems to help. Running irexec manually gives me:
Code:
irexec: could not connect to socket
irexec: No such file or directory

Trying to run irw gives a similar error message.

TL DR:
1. I've checked this in the manual of the ASRock but to be sure; can someone confirm that the IR receiver is built in and not supposed to be connected via USB? That would explain my problems Smile Haven't seen anything looking like an IR receiver though.
2. Can someone please explain what I need to do to get my remote working?
I can also mention that my kernel version is 2.6.32-29. Could that be the issue?
I tried upgrading kernel yesterday to the version that the latest driver is for but that created all sorts of problems.
Do you think it is worth downgrading to 2.6.32-25?
Hi there,

I faced the same problems with the remote when installing XBMC-Live 10 on ASRock ION 3D 152d. I followed this guide and the remote works perfectly fine now.

Hope it helps you too.

Thanks for your help!

Everything works fine until I perform this command:
Code:
sudo dpkg -i lirc-nct677x-1.0.4-ubuntu10.04.deb
According to the guide, "After this is done the service should start and say ok."
It doesn't however. It says [fail]. Running irw afterwards says:
Code:
connect: No such file or directory

I am positive I entered the line:
Code:
sudo ln -s /dev/ttyS0 /dev/lirc0
correctly. I double checked many times.
Any ideas what might be my issue?
Try my livecd: http://www.xbmcfreak.nl/en/xbmcfreak-10-...d-livecds/

The Nuvoton supports the remote out of the box!

Thanks for your help. I was about to try this but while waiting for the download to finish, I kept on googling and came across this thread:

The section about "Installing the driver for the internal IR receiver" fixed my issues!
