Is there way I can turn off downloading last 5M of data before it start playing from remote site ?

I'm not sure what's the purpose of downloading it but this makes
slow start up on slow line because each video has to get last 5M or more
data has to be download before it start playing..

I started spongebob at 9:51:09 but it it actually started at 9:51:31

you can try turning off the cache and you'll be very disappointed. yes, it's needed, in particular for such a horrible protocol (for streaming) as ftp.

Why does cache loads last part of video in advance ?
If it's used as cache, shouldn't it load beginning part ?

Adjusting cache in advancedsettings seems not effecting this behavior
nor th other cache setting for video file.

because those files (=.avi's) have the index at the end.

I guess you're right..
I just tested with half download avi file which has missing index at the end of file and this file started immediately but of course seeking function in xbmc make it hangs due to missing index I guess.
