Hi guys,
I am running XBMC Live, installed on a USB drive... connected using a wired network, to a Windows XP box. When I tried the Windows version (Installed on XP) the SMB shares were visible.
But now, the LIVE version ... when I select Add Video Source, and then select SMB share, it gives an Error 2: Share not found.
I am a novice... can someone assist me?
there are several things you can try to get windows shares working, check the video link in my sig to make sure your computer knows its on a home network, if you have windows live assistant installed remove it, also you should check your shares and make sure that "everyone is listed to have access to the share.
Thanks for the help. Checked it all, and all was as you described.
So, I manually added the share, via the IP address and path, and it worked fine. Seems XBMC can't see the server names, but can handle the IP address...
SMB://192.168.1.10/MediaShare/Video/Movies for example.

my xbmc can handle server names, even the old version back in the days on my old xbox could handle server names - so its defenitly something you missed in the setup
Have you set the workgroup in XBMC Live to the same as your network??
I had the same error and found something on my network was jamming the search for all computers. Any mapped smb links in XBMC were working, like scanning library worked, but try to add a new network location, any location, and I got the same SMB error 2.
Hope this helps some.
