Full Version: Youtube addon buffer problems

I hope this is the right place for this thread, else i request a moderator to move it ;-)

I'm experiencing that videos played through the youtube addons often run of of video in the buffer, and i have to wait for the buffer til fill up.

I don't experience this when watching the same video through my browser, how come is that?

Is there any settings, buffer size or some where that I can adjust?
I have exactly the same problem. Low bandwidth videos appear to work fine with the youtube add-on, but higher res ones (eg 720p) suffer from regular buffering pauses. Playing the same high-res videos through the browser (chrome) on the same box works perfectly.

I'm running xbmc 10.1 on mythbuntu 10.10 (linux). Xbmc CPU never exceeds 24%.

Xbmc log with debugging enabled: http://pastebin.com/KpLQbUqC

Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Justin.
In the Eden version of the YouTube plugin there is an option called "Use YouTube cache servers".

Toggling that setting often helps with buffering issues. Unfortunately there is no such setting for Dharma.

Either wait for Eden to go stable, or download the Eden Beta:

If you continue to have problems with Eden file a bug report:

And post it here:

Thanks Tobias. I'll give the Eden beta a go.

But one question before I do: From the xbmc log (link pasted in my previous posting), the youtube addon was using the following link:

15:10:38 T:139757359970400 M:3646844928 NOTICE: DVDPlayer: Opening: http://o-o.preferred.iinet-per1.v19.lsca...outube.com | Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.2.8) Gecko/20100722 Firefox/3.6.8

Is this not a youtube caching server? (FYI iiNet is my ISP here in Perth)

Cheers,
Justin.

Yes that is a caching server. Using the fallback_host will probably work for you(which can be done by toggling "cache" servers in the Eden release).
Hi everyone!
I still have that kind of problem with xbmc Eden and youtube addon . Running on a win7 / 2ghz / 1go pc
There is something i really dont understand, maybe someone had the same issue.

Youtube addon worked perfectly for 2 or 3 days with any kind of video, then i have the pop up message " cache full" and it was over...15m to lauch a video even a small one .
What does that pop up means since we can't clear cache on XBMC? I tried to uninstall/reinstall cache plugin (auto installed with youtube addon), it worked once but the pop up came again...

Hope someone will have an idea
