I have a large movie library so being able to scroll to a particular letter would help with navigation. Skin helper service has a built in letter scroller. For example "Alexa ask Kodi to scroll to letter M"
Being able to move in a direction a certain number of times at once. For example "Alexa ask kodi to move right 10 times"
I can't seem to bring up a video playlists. I have a smart playlist for 3D movies called 3D so "Alexa ask kodi to open video playlist 3D"

This should be doable. The only annoyance is that this will require another Slot, unless there's a built-in that could handle this (I'd have to look). If it does need another Slot, we'd have to provide translations as well.

Should be possible as well.

There is no Intent for this currently, but it could be added.

I'll look into all of these as soon as I get a chance.

Sounds good. Thanks for considering.

Are looking to be able to say "Alexa ask kodi to open video playlist 3D" and then you see the smart playlist as if you navigated to Videos>Playlists and selected "3D" from the list of playlists. So you end up looking at the generated playlist and then want to choose from there?

Then no, you are right, you can't do that yet.

But you can play video playlists (including smart playlists) just fine. You have to use "play" or "watch" though, not open.

I have a smart playlist that plays random episodes of shows that contain "animation" in the genre. It was called "random cartoons" but the word "random" was causing occasional problems, but since I changed it to "cartoons" it is fine. I only mention this because a playlist called "3D" is probably going to be difficult to interpret, not impossible, but you might get better results calling it something else.

You might want to try adding 3D as a genre and applying it to the relevant movies. As you can say "play a random 3D movie", or of course if you know the movie what to watch, then ask for it directly Smile

If this is to navigate through lists of titles as if you were pressing the remote 10 times, you can say "page up" "page down" "show more" and that will do the same thing (including horizontal views like Shift and Poster)

If you want to scroll to M, does that mean you know what you want to watch and it starts with the letter M?

If you know the title, ask Alexa to play the movie directly Smile

Generally browsing through media (which all three of your requests are regarding) is always gonna be a massive pain when using your voice, you are better off sticking with a remote. Your "eyes to brain to thumb" reaction time is almost instant, it will drive you mad trying to simulate what your thumb does by saying "Alexa, ask kodi to go left, go up, select, down, down, down, down. page down, page down, up, up, select" Eek

But... if you know what you want to watch, voice control works very very well Smile and you can always use both, a physical remote for navigating through the visual interface in Kodi, using Echo for when you know what you want to play. Whatever method suits, sometimes I pause with the remote (rather than having shout over what is playing) then as I am walking back into the room with a drink in one hand and a snack in the other, I say "alexa, ask kodi to play" and it's back playing as i sit myself down.

I'll second what digiltd said. It's basically all designed to avoid navigating the GUI at all. The navigation commands we have added are mostly there to bridge gaps in functionality.

All good guys no problem. I do think the above would be very beneficial to people with large libraries though. You can create a smart playlist for virtually anything. Its a great way to break up your library into something smaller. If I want to see 3D movies or only atmos movies or movies by a specific actor or virtually anything I can create a smart playlist. Being able to ask Alexa to bring up one of those quickly and then possibly ask her to page down to navigate or use the remote to navigate from there would be a plus.

RE: Amazon Echo skill for Kodi - jingai - 2017-07-27

Page up/down is already supported.

I'll still look at your requests -- was just trying to explain how things are designed.

Sounds good and agreed with the page up/down support. I've asked Alexa to do it many times already and it works well.

I've searched this thread with no further help found.

It is already logging. You get to it from the CloudWatch screen using the menu on the left. Click on Logs, then click on the Lambda function, then you will see a page of streams, make sure you are sorting by "Last Event Time" and click on the top one. Note that Zappa constantly pings the function so it will be full of crap. But if you are watching it whilst you are trying to test the Skill you should see the relevant log info.

RE: Amazon Echo skill for Kodi - Dexter1979 - 2017-08-01

Hey guys,

Loving the potential of this skill. I have tried to set it up for my own Kodi and it work from the Amazon Developer site via the Test option but I cannot get my Echo to work. She keeps saying "sorry, something went wrong.".. What am I missing?

RE: Amazon Echo skill for Kodi - bill_orange - 2017-08-01

Updating to Version 2.7.5 was accomplished without drama.

The new music genre slot seems to work okay without collisions with playlists of the same name. I have abandoned the LibreElec Kodi 18.0 test builds and gone back to the released version. With the released LibreElec playlists work fine, as discussed in an earlier thread.

I have had quite a few problems with the recent nightly LibreElec builds, not the least of which is the WiFi driver, The current driver included in the nightly builds works poorly for me with my RP3.

I suggest that others stick with the released LibreElec build.

RE: Amazon Echo skill for Kodi - Rogg23 - 2017-08-02

Hi. I've just set this up using AWS Lambda, created my skill which I can see as a skill on my Alexa app.
I cannot get my Echo to accept any commands, but if I run the command I'm saying through the Test app in the Developer app, it works without issue.
So nearly there but not quite!

Can anyone offer any support of guidance, what logs I can provide and how etc?

Thanks.

RE: Amazon Echo skill for Kodi - jingai - 2017-08-02

First thing to check is that you chose the correct region for your language, and that the language you chose matches the language you have your Echo set to. For example, UK is not the same as US.
