3D Bluray - Cinephile - 2016-03-06

Is libmfx for Linux something Intel might already be working on?

RE: 3D Bluray - afedchin - 2016-03-06

perhaps. who knows...

RE: 3D Bluray - movie78 - 2016-03-06

So no luck on KodiBuntu/OpenElec

Your release will only work on Windows?

But what about SBS/TAB material?

A quick google search brings this up https://ffmpeg.org/pipermail/ffmpeg-user/2015-October/028761.html (might not be anything but its nice to dream for a bit!)

All the movies that I was having a problem with yesterday are now working, thanks @afedchin! Now just need to rename my files since Windows Estuary doesn't like 3D.MVC so they all have the HD tag instead of the 3D tag (but works fine in Milhouse RPi2 builds).

All MVC full movie files? Full HD audio bitstreamed as well?

Good fine, I wish @fritsch will share light on the Linux.

I second that notion.

Fritsch is needed for advice.

Intel media SDK for Linux will not support MVC. But their regular VAAPI has supported it since 2014 according to this:

Maybe it does not worth efforts after all: Samsung And Philips Sign 3D's Death Warrant

3D's "Death Warrant" has been singed over and over and over again. Trying to sell units based on poor implementation of 3D 5 years ago when it was the buzz word turned a lot of consumers off. Now everyone wants giant VR goggles and to brag to their friends about the 60" 4K Vizio TV they bought for a grand. 3D is still VERY prevalent in theaters and until that "dies" there will always be a place for it in the home market. Just not in the low end cheap TV's where most people shop. This is all marketing to sway customers to Samsung because consumers are easy to manipulate. If they say they don't have 3D then consumers don't think they are paying for something they don't want/need. Cars aren't sold by horse power and ABS anymore. They are sold by 4G LTE capability that lets 10 kids all play Plants vs Zombies together. Just ignore all the outlying costs associated with doing that, however.

Besides, Samsung (and maybe Philips) never had the best 3D to offer. Sammy doesn't make projectors where 3D, even active, shines gloriously. Panasonic is still making 3D sets in their higher end units, where it should be. As it should be.

But the press will continue to hammer on the death of 3D while the biggest movies in the world are all making gobs of money in 3D. It drives click-bait hits to their websites.

Yeah, all of mine are MVC full rips with only HD audio. I don't have an Atmos receiver so I can't speak to that, but I have DTS-HD MA 7.1 and TrueHD 7.1 being passed through to the receiver. This is with an Intel NUC D54250WYK.

Awesome. How many movies are you testing? And how about titles with subs?

If your receiver is showing TrueHD and dtsHD-MA then you'll be getting the Atmos and dts:x metedata as well.

Oh, and is Kodi switching back to 2D mode at the end of playback and having your display (what type) switch as well?

Issue:

When selected Settings--Video--Disc--Show Bluray Menu

FULL 3D.ISO w/Menu doesn't playback
