RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+XBMC) [v3.1 - 2014/10/30] - movie78 - 2014-11-10 (2014-11-10, 18:18)hdmkv Wrote: Hey movie78, Chromebox is perfect for XBMC and playback of full 2D BD rips (3D ISO's and MKV's will be rendered as 2D) and HD audio. It does proper 23.976, 24 and 59.94. Basically, if you don't need frame-packed 3D support, Chromebox is really hard to beat for the price-to-performance ratio. Thanks! Going to get one just for regular streaming for MKV and M2ts file.. Lately my Smart Control FLIRC combo has been on the fritz. One button press turns into 20 or so. Judging by the FLIRC forum I am not alone in this issue. Don't know if it's occuring as they get some age on them or what. At any rate I need a remote ASAP before my wife orders sattelite again. Is the PS3 remote working now? If not I guess I'll go with the Rosewill from the wiki. I'd love to but when I go to the bluetooth section it says "no bluetooth adapter found". How do I go about getting that straightened out. RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+XBMC) [v3.1 - 2014/10/30] - randy37 - 2014-11-11 Hi all, thanks to this thread I have recently purchased an HP Chromebox, ran the script and managed to get Openelec and XBMC up and running. After a couple weeks my Chromebox just shut off on it's own and when I tried to power it back up I got nothing...no light, no fan, no power at all. After it sat for a couple days I was going to open it up and see if there was something obviously wrong I could fix and just for kicks I tried to power it up before tearing into it and it worked again. I left it powered on for several hours sitting on my desk not hooked to a monitor and it seemed fine but when I hooked it up to the t.v. it shut off again after a short time. This seems to be the pattern now...let it sit for a long time and it will power up but shut down on its own after a short time of watching anything. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Would this indicate a bad drive or cpu or could it be software related? Any help/advice is appreciated, thanks. Randy RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+XBMC) [v3.1 - 2014/10/30] - Matt Devo - 2014-11-11 Randy, does this happen with ChromeOS as well, or just OpenELEC? Sure sounds like a hardware issue (overheating?) to me RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+XBMC) [v3.1 - 2014/10/30] - boomhower - 2014-11-11 (2014-11-10, 23:53)Matt Devo Wrote:(2014-11-10, 23:39)boomhower Wrote: I'd love to but when I go to the bluetooth section it says "no bluetooth adapter found". The fan runs when the unit is on, what do you think would cause the overheating? It is in a cabinet with other components but it worked that way for a couple of weeks before shutting down. I'd also assume if it is shutting down due to thermal issues, that there would be some evidence of such in the system log RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+XBMC) [v3.1 - 2014/10/30] - randy37 - 2014-11-11 (2014-11-11, 05:29)Matt Devo Wrote:(2014-11-11, 05:23)randy37 Wrote: Hi Matt, thanks for the quick response, I did a standalone install of OpenELEC. Assuming it's used in conjunction with the Smart Hub (which actually handles the BT duties), then I'd expect so, just program it as a Sony Playstation 3. The remote itself is IR only, and would need a USB IR receiver if not used with the Smart Hub - one of the MCE ones listed on the wiki would be my recommendation. |
