RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [v3.4 - 2014/12/10] - leo5111 - 2014-12-11 i dont care about 4k video right now just 1080p should i get the i3 or is the celeron version more then enough? if possible i want to boot a version of ubuntu and boot xbmc in it, so that when i feel like it i can use a FULL web browser such as firefox and use a instant messenger, thanks for answers RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [v3.4 - 2014/12/10] - Eppdso - 2014-12-11 I hope that I am posting to the correct thread. My question is, I just set up my HP Chromebox as a standalone with openelec because I couldn't get the dualboot to work, but now as I set up xbmc I find that I have to be connected to Ethernet cable with no way of finding where I can switch to Wi-Fi. Is this even an option? I am doing this to have TV in a room that I can't run a Ethernet cable. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I dual boot Xubuntu and OpenELEC with no issues at all as well. I got the non-4K version because I don't see 4K being something to care about for 2 to 3 years from now. You might want 4GB ram for Ubuntu but easy enough to add after the fact. (2014-12-11, 01:02)Eppdso Wrote: I hope that I am posting to the correct thread. Even though I was not able to get dualboot to work the standalone was very easy and is working great so far. Love the Chromebox idea so much I got a bigger M.2 SSD, and more ram, so I can play with the Linux OS. However, I run a standalone OpenELEC version, but would love to add a dual boot with some Ubuntu variant install, once I get a bigger SSD. Human_USB, could you give me some pointers as to how to achieve dual boot with OpenELEC and Ubuntu? I am not a Linux expert, but I am hoping the Ubuntu install will give me an option to install the Grub boot manager, and repartition the drive? Thanks for any help! When I click on a movie, I get the option to "Resume From" or "Start from Beginning. When I click on "Resume From", it does nothing. Anyone else having the same problem? I can resume from any movie using Confluence, Aeon Nox and Aeon MQ5. This has not been a problem ever for me on the Chromebox in either OE 4.2 or 4.97. You will have to not do the auto-disk setup, and do it manually. OpenELEC does not need much..... 1GB in total is more than enough. 256MB for the OE_SYSTEM and the rest for OE_DATA. |
