Did you guys already received the firmware update? I've read that it looks like the blurriness issue got fixed. Anyone?

Is this a FireTV update or XBMC/Kodi update?

Fire TV Stick update

RE: fire tv stick - lespaul - 2014-12-18

I did a "Check for Update" on my Fire TV Stick last night. It did not find one.

Just got the update...

running 14 rc3 with only mediacodec enabled on a 52 sharp aquos tv

the image looks superb... no blurriness at all

amazing job amazon for fixing the issue Smile

Wish they'd done it a week ago! I sold mine and bought a chromecast, which I do also really like

Gonna pick another one up now

Don't want to sound too reiterative, but I also can confirm that blurriness and jagginess issues are gone after the update. Amazon nailed it.

Now that Kodi 14.0 is official, can anyone recommend the best way to update to it on the Fire Stick while keeping all our add-ons and settings?

RE: fire tv stick - fisherman55 - 2014-12-25

I just updated mine from 14.3 RC to 14 using abfire115, installed no problem, everything remains intact.

Use Amazon FireTV Utility app. There's a download link in Kodi wiki. This is what I did: Uninstalled Kodi rc3 and used the option to keep my data and settings. Then I side loaded the Kodi final and all my data and settings were there.

There are people that just install a new Kodi apk over the old one but I didn't feel comfortable with that.

Thanks to you both. It appears these are the two easiest methods. Seeing as the Fire Stick doesn't have a ton of memory and space I am inclined to try Baruchin's method. Happy Holidays Everyone!
