Marcos, what do you think about making the skin completely uncompressed? You´d benefit from the speed with the only problem being the file size. But let´s face it, if you´re running a media center, you probably have 500GB+ of disk space, will 1GB (if that much) make any difference at all? I know I have converted all my fanart/folder JPGs to BMP and they didn´t even sum up to 500MB.

So, what´s your opinion on this subject - compressed or uncompressed as default?

Alael I totally agree with you! Better performance is always good! I was looking how to use the uncompressed images, but couldn't find it. Could you please point me to the thread post that describes it or even give me a heads up on it?

Thx in advance!

Mindzai Wrote:A small improvement - could we have the season fanarts used when a season is selected please? At the moment they only show for a season's episodes, but I think it would be good to also switch between the season fanarts as a season is highlighted too.

Just bumping this post as it hasn't been answered Smile

Is there anyway of reverting back to the old style DVD cases? Not a huge fan of the new Blu-Ray, HD-DVD etc. cases, thanks.

+1

Marcos, please, if this had an easy solution (by way of editing some xml) I would like to know it, since I am completely satisfied with the rest of the skin...

Thank you.

A single 1920x1080 bmp files is 6 megabytes, so you must not have very much media in your library if all your fanart is < 500 megabytes.

I'm not sure what running the skin in uncompressed mode means. If it is just the graphics that are actually part of the skin then it sounds like a reasonable idea. I find it hard to believe that uncompressing a jpeg takes more than a tiny fraction of a second though... has anyone actually measured the so called speed increase?

edit: in fact for large files, I wouldn't be surprised if loading anduncompressing a jpeg took less time because of the reduced disk access time for a smaller file. CPU speed is way way faster than Harddrive speed.

Unzip and copy the folders to the directory of the skin.

"Compressed" textures is not really an accurate description. The textures.xbt file is actually considerably larger than the sum of the source image files. It does not "compress" the images so much as convert them to a format which is readily usable by the GPU and then package them into a single file. It is my understanding that using packaged textures should actually be faster because of this, though apparently this is not the case...

Ajedi Wrote:Hey Marco,

Also what im wondering, when I play trailers in the trailers menu it goes to full screen immediatly. But when i want to see the trailer for the movie I have in the libary it shows it small (in order to see it fullscreen i have to press the "tab" button on the keyboard.
Is there a setting to set the trailer to fullscreen by default, like when in the Trailers section.

Greets, Ajedi

Another vote from me for this one....

I too just use the remote control, digging the keyboard out to make full screen is a pain.

I sure this can be done, because this is set as default on a previous skin I was using, just can't remember which one.

i dunno, since using the new update with textures.xbt rather than the 'uncompressed' folder, its much faster. I like access to the textures.xbt to make my own customisations but i can live without it if it means its going to be faster

Marcos,
I dont know if this is a bug or just the way you designed it, but the audio flags for movies only seem to be showing Dolby Digital or Dolby TrueHD. When I have a DTS HD Master Audio film, it just show "5.1" which is quite hard to see. I'd rather it said DTS-MA or something.

I thought it might be a bug because files exist in /media/flags/audio for both "5.1 and also the DTS audio ones are there

ClearArt Cache Location? - markimark - 2011-02-28

Does anybody know how to clear the cache for the ClearArt Feature? I have created a clearart logo for local use on my pc and it was showing up but then I recreated it and saved under the same name because I have to (logo.png). The problem is that the new version of the logo is NOT showing up but still the first one that I have created. I guess that I have to clear something but I have no idea what and where to find it.

Any help out there? Thanks.
