i can barely see the purple,,,

Colors look fine on my monitor, they dont look too dark as you say. Can clearly see its purple along with the other colors.

I agree the purple looks good, I just hope Marcos implements the other colours to segragate the different formats. However I would like to see the BluRay cover in a slightly lighter Blue to make it stand out a little more.

Yup. Perhaps they could be a little brighter, but not much.

To me the whole idea, apart from the asthetics of course, is to be able to see the type of movie (quality) at a glance without having to look down at the media flags all the time. If the cases are all of a similar shade and colour this will not be achievable, right?

So, my question is, do we want the colour range Marcos posted to differentiate the the different movie types, I say yes. Secondly do we want the BluRay to be a slightly lighter shade of blue so it stands out a little more, again a yes from me.

Think we really need some sort of poll here and go with the majority.

Marcos said you can't have the speed with all the different colors. Am I right?
Definitely a vote for speed and fluency from me in that case Smile

I'm still working on the Dutch translation Marcos, it's going steady so far Wink

DVD Cases and Colors - markimark - 2011-03-05

I like the ones that Chippie has posted but in generel, darker colors are more classy and suit a Media Center much more but every Nation got a different taste and feel if it comes to the use of colors. I would like to see some red, purple, orange, blue and grey.

thats why i totally agree with chippie when he said
'more vibrant without being too much in your face' Smile

Must have missed that! Not sure how Marcos has the overlays configured but assume they are seperate overlays for each movie type due to the top grpahic unless that is also an overlay? If the first scenario then should not make any difference.

HDTV is already a different colour case which is fine, not fussed about HDDVD as all of mine are maked as BluRay. Plan on adding (BluRay) to the title of all my 720p and 1080p H.264 files (apart from the HDTV ones of course) so they will be fine and will have BluRay covers.

So another question, if adding different colours is too much to process and will impact performace is, what type of movies do we all really want to differentiate by colour. Personally I would like different colours for BluRay, HDTV and H.264 the rest DiVX, XViD etc... can be the same colour for me as none are HD in my collection. This is all obviously if we cannot have different colours, if we can.... even better!

Ultimately Marcos, think you need to make a decision, after all we dont want it to impact the release of 2.7.1 Big Grin

Menu, Submenu Customization - markimark - 2011-03-05

@MarcosQui

I have 2 questions.

#1
If you create a new Shortcut why is it not possible to link it to a certain path or to an addon? Is that on purpose? It would be cool to have more options, like...

Link to:
Favourite
Video Playlist
Audio Playlist
System Playlist (like "recently added")
Script
Addon
Path

What do you think?

#2
Is about the "Recently added Gadget" on the Main Menu. Many times after I have updated the library there is no thumbnail created for the last imported video. The gadget is showing the title but no thumbnail. I have to play that video for a few seconds to have that thumbnail created.

Are you aware of this?

UPDATE!!!!!
About #2.....
Can this be related to mkv files? Somehow I have the feeling that it always happens with that file type. Today I have imported 4 files, 1 avi and 3 mkv and only the avi file has created a thumbnail. Any idea?

Guys & Gals, please remember we are just referring to the colours of the cases and not the style of the pictures I posted as I do not want Marcos to change the style of his cases at all, I think his look much better.

Ultimately, I think it really depends on how it looks once we have it on our screens, perhaps if they are too bright it will ruin the skin, perhaps not so lets find a middle ground everyone will be happy with.

Here is my proposal;

Everyone donate a minimum of $1 to Marcos via his site and put their vote in for Lighter or Existing "Darker" Colour cases in the comments with their donation. Depending on how many donations he receives over the next few days sways the vote for the next build. Then we can all asses the new overlays and see if we like them or not.Big Grin

Just to add, I do not know Marcos personally and stem to gain no benefit from the above suggestion, only trying to put a little fun into this decision making process and give Marcos what he deserves after all the time and effort he has put into this skin.

EDIT: Oops... should have added provided Marcos is happy with this siggestion of course?

I really wish that this would make Marcos financially happy but I am afraid there are only 3 or 4 people discussing those colors. Wrong or right?
