@BobCratchett

thanks for your help. Skin started with menu after installing with zip file. The skin helper error is still there.

RE: Aeon Madnox - Beta Release (for Isengard / Jarvis) - Alanon - 2016-01-08

Hey guys, a quick question concerning the mixed widget - does it rotate the contents automatically? I've set the sorting to random, and that gives the widget a bit more variety, but as far as i can see, what loads on start stays there until I manually scroll it?

Cheers!

No, it does not rotate the contents automatically. The previous implementation used features that were causing a lot of crashes when the skin was used in KODI Jarvis. Bob and the rest of the team are better suited to answer if this is something that can be added.

Bart

RE: Aeon Madnox - Beta Release (for Isengard / Jarvis) - _Andy_ - 2016-01-08

There seems to be a bug in the alarmclock function. This function is necessary to rotate the widgets and other stuff. The alarmclock caused the total freezes in the skin. Thx to a genius who found this nasty bug
the skin is working now.
Since the bug in the alarmclock is fixed there is no automatic scrolling through the widgets and other timer related stuff.

But this is a small price.

RE: Aeon Madnox - Beta Release (for Isengard / Jarvis) - bsoriano - 2016-01-08

Hello,

Would it be possible to have a panel background behind the info that shows up when you enable "Enable Panel Widget Information" in General Main Menu Settings? Sometimes it is hard to read depending on how bright or dark is the fanart or image that is being shown in the background. Thanks for considering this addition/setting.

Regards,

Bart

RE: Aeon Madnox - Beta Release (for Isengard / Jarvis) - BobCratchett - 2016-01-08

Auto-scrolling of the mixed widget is technically possible, but not particularly easy without modding Mr. V's widget layouts. (The widgets use a 'panel' control, which doesn't support auto-scrolling. It would probably make sense to switch the mixed widget to a wraplist in any case, which does support autoscroll, but then the focusedlayout for each artwork choice needs to be adjusted, as in a list control it's used for the current item, whether or not the control itself is focused.) I'm happy to make the changes, if @Mr. V has no objections...?

Regarding the background of the panel widget info - there actually is a background there already, but it doesn't darken the fanart much. Not something I want to touch at this point, though, as I don't know what the options Mr. V is working on are, and whether they'll affect this or not Smile

peeeewwwwww... to test those new widgets are so much work ... i need more time to check ONE WIDGET STYLE than the whole skin before Wink ... so many options - AWESOME !
( when someone is asking for more options i jump out of the window !!! )

but i found something ( HAHAAA ! )

when i use mixed widgets - and choose:
label= title >>> i get just the TV SHOW name (the blacklist for example) instead of the EPISODE name (3x9 the director) ( like the problem we had in the beginning )

ive checked my playlist twice ( set as category "episodes" ) and also test default "series" Options instead of my playlist

when i choose:
label= panel >>> i get the episode number and name (3x9 the director)

i get this on recent added, recommended, random... well on all "local files"
on next aired i get the date and episode number and name ( maybe it took the info from next aired addon )

i think its almost IMPOSSIBLE to find all problems, because we have sooooooo much variables now... i think when Mr.V is done with the next staff ( system info and cases ) we should merge it and then we collect all feedback from the MADNOX friends and after a while we can check what we can fix and what not...

but its working so freaking great already Smile - even on my rasp2 XD ...

EDIT:
i forget one question... is it possible to add a "stroke" or a big shadow to the text for labels ? ( panel and title ) - sometimes is hard to read when you have a fanart that is similar to the text color... a stroke around the text or a big black shadow would solve that... we can try to change that after merging too, but i dont know how we get problems when there will be an update or so ...

SORRY FOR OFF-TOPIC:
speaking of RaspPi2 - if someone of you is using the raspi2 and openelec - USE A USB DRIVE FOR THE STORAGE FOLDER !!!! that speeds up my system for ... idk... IMMENSE ! - navigation is almost "smooth" and fast and it works quite fast - and even the widgets working realy good ( not so fast and smooth compared to my A6 player with fast SSD and 8GB ram ... but for this lill peace of hardware IMPRESSIVE fast and smooth with such a big skin like madnox ... )

The ones that do that I tested are Random and Recommended Episodes, but Recent Episodes and Next Episodes do not. The ones that do have that info on the first line of the info panel or dialog, and the show name on the second line. The ones that do not have the show name on both lines.

I think these are both the same issue (the var feeding this info starts with the tv show title followed by a carriage return, meaning - when the tv show title is present as a separate info label in a short label control - that's all that's seen. Pushed a fix to it, but haven't extensively tested if that var is used elsewhere (somewhere where the carriage return is necessary...)

The labels already have a shadow, and Kodi doesn't offer a stroke option. Not sure what can be done about this Confused

Yup, once the new stuff comes in I'd give it a couple of days just in case of any major issues/updates to the mixed widget (which I presume I'll need to update to the new options separately Smile), and then lets PR it. Mr Doc, can I presume when the time comes you're going to want it all as a single commit...?

Bob,

The episode info is now shown for the episode widgets where it was not appearing before, thanks!!

RE: Aeon Madnox - Beta Release (for Isengard / Jarvis) - schimi2k - 2016-01-08

because of the stroke we can try something we used in some views too i think... ( just add the same text in black and 2px bigger behind the foreground text i think ) ... or we should think about a dark field between the text and the widget maybe...
its just cosmetic ... something for a future "tweaking" maybe

thx Sir Bob for all those hyper fast fixings

RE: Aeon Madnox - Beta Release (for Isengard / Jarvis) - Mike_Doc - 2016-01-08

Sir Bob, you can PR it whatever way is best for yourself when the time comes to merge it into the master.

You know you have push rights to the skinshortcuts branch if you want to start doing that sort of tweaking, right...?

You're more generous than I Smile (I always insist on a single commit per PR!) As it is, I think I need to rewrite the history anyway (a merge of the same branch somehow got in there), and I like a clean history, so we'll see Wink

ATM I am updating every control in every container for all the views. I found some issues with the zoom animations and now need to make separate controls for each case. Very time consuming task.

For the labels I am changing there appearance. As people have mentioned they don't stand out well enough or hard to read with certain artwork. In the future they will be a single line label that scrolls on focus. While it is possible to put the label below the widget, the changes in the code will be too much so my preference is not to place them over the top of the artwork.

Any thoughts on this change?

Mr. V.,

In the image in your post, you are talking about the title of the movie that appears on the poster?

Even in that picture I think it is a little difficult to read, but then again, my eyesight is not that good.

Do yo think you could darken more the shadow that is behind the panel info that appears on top of the widgets? That whole info part, which I think is brilliant, is hard to read, and I had asked earlier if there could be a panel or background behind it.

Thanks for considering it!

Regards,

Bart

Too, lost, too behind to figure out how to install the test branch and proper add-ons.
Waiting ever so patiently for this to get pushed to the main branch.
All you guys are awesome for doing this and us simple folk thank you big time and will wait as long as it takes although it looks like it's getting close to release time and what a release it's gonna' be!
Schimi, get on that 101 updating cuz we'll be lost without it : )
