In the latest script I get: Error: unable to determine current firmware version; aborting.

When trying to update the firmware using "curl -L -O http://goo.gl/HSZer4 / bash HSZer4"

RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [v3.8 - 2015/01/07] - toadleyb - 2015-01-08

I just purchased the Asus chromebox for a friend for Christmas. I have it all set up to dual boot Ubuntu 14.04.1 and Chromeos. I am running Kodi 14.0 with the pvr.wmc pvr client.

I have followed the directions to install the patched 3.18 kernel.

I am getting this rapid flickering on some channels which makes it virtually unwatchable. In playing around with the settings I have found that if I turn off deinterlacing this stops.

Any ideas on what may be causing this and how I can fix it?

you're likely still using older Intel video drivers, and need to update to the same ones that OpenELEC is currently using. I'm not sure the process for that however.

The funny thing is I had OpenElec set up and it was doing the same thing. I switched to Ubuntu with Kodi and it is doing the same thing. Could it be faulty hardware?

Sounds like tv channels that mix progressive and interlaced content. A Debug Log will show that.

I am at work right now. Will post a log when I get home. Thanks for the help.

I hope Matt doesn't mind me asking this here, it is the go to place for all things Chromebox / OpenELEC!

Does anyone know how to clear the scroll back history of commands from the ssh terminal window please (Connecting from OS X)?

I have tried "history -c" "history -c && history -w" and "~/.bash_history" none of which work.

OS dependent. If we are talking openelec then history is in .ash_history.

Thanks nick, would "~/.ash_history" do the trick then?

RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [v3.8 - 2015/01/07] - nickr - 2015-01-09

rm ~/.ash_history

However the current session's history will be written there when you log out. So to truly get rid of that, log in again and run it as your first command, then log out.

Thanks!

EDIT: Logging in with FlashFXP makes it easier to remove the file, thanks again for the info nickr

I think I am having problems with the seaboot.

I did a HP OE/chromeos with no problems.

Now I am doing an Asus. And can't get the boot menu to work. Escape key and boot options will not appear.

On startup HP you see seabios text with version.

On the Asus you see attached picture. Different than the HP.

I can boot in OE and ChromeOS only Windows on external hdd is a problem.

PS: saw that the seaboot bios has a new date?? 07012015

So you did a dual boot ChromeOS + OE install, and that works, but you can't bring up the boot menu to boot an external drive?

Your screenshot shows me the dev boot screen, which is normal for a dual boot setup. It also shows me that you have set the boot flags to legacy boot default + 30s delay, which is fine.

As per the wiki, if you see the 'Press ESC for boot menu' text, but the boot menu does not appear when you press ESC, then it's a keyboard issue. If you don't see the text, then it's an issue with your connected media.
