Cheers,

Without further investigation it would seem that your USB IR Receiver is not detected.

With the correct receiver its pretty easy to get a remote going in OpenELEC.

What do you get from
Code:
cat /proc/bus/input/devices

It looks to be a "tigerfly" reciever. Googleing it came up with this http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Unbranded_MCE_remote
I'm just looking to use the receiver part though, I already have a decent remote.

Chris.

What does lsusb tell you about the receiver?

Its not being seen as an "Infrared Remote Transceiver". It appears to be a keyboard mouse receiver only.

IMO you should get a standard "Infrared Remote Transceiver"

BTW if I run the command I ask you to run with my "Infrared Remote Transceiver" unplugged. I get the same message you did.

Quote:Chris-HTPC:/ # ir-keytable -p lirc

So, it would seem to indicate that you dont have an "Infrared Remote Transceiver"

Hmm. So I should just buy a different one? The Wiki I posted seems to suggest that it should work. Perhaps that's just the remote part?

Chris.

RE: OpenELEC IR setup? - nickr - 2014-03-26

google 073a:2330 there are plenty of pages about this remote.

RE: OpenELEC IR setup? - fritz222 - 2014-05-18

Do you guys have any new insights on this?

I have exactly the same error on this with my moneual moncaso 312 remote.

It worked with lirc in xbmcbuntu now i have updatet to openelec and this doesn't work.

Any help?

Thank you.

Man - THANK YOU! I've been banging my head against the wall all weekend trying to get my i5 NUC setup. Everything worked fantastically except for some of the more customized things I was looking to do (key press taking my straight to a file location or playlist). The wiki doesn't appear to explain the interaction of the hidden lircmap.xml and the remote.xml files at all.

I'm coming from a Windows XBMC background and I very well knew about the keymap.xml file but that just wasn't getting it done here because I couldn't tell how the IR codes were mapped to the XBMC codes. Got it now thanks to you!

So thanks a ton!

The issue is likely due to your IR receiver not being detected by default or incompatible.

You may have success by specifying the device to ir-keytable with the -d switch.

RE: OpenELEC IR setup? - fritz222 - 2014-05-24

the format of ir-keytable is this right: ir-keytable -d /dev/input/eventX

I don't know which event it is.

"cat /proc/bus/input/devices" gives me this, but I think the ir receiver is not listed:

RE: OpenELEC IR setup? - FishOil - 2014-05-24

If you dont see lirc* when you issue the command "ls /dev" then lirc is not being activated / used.

The next step (assuming your IR device is of the correct kind) is to see what modules are loaded.

Type
lsmod

some sort of lirc / IR module should be loaded.

If not, you can try to manually load one and see how it goes from there.

RE: OpenELEC IR setup? - fritz222 - 2014-05-25

There is no lirc* in /dev. Sad

When I type lsmod I get the following:

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I'm having the same issue. Raspberry Pi 2 w/ OpenOLEC 5.08.

/sys/class/rc/: No such file or directory

I know my remote can be used with lirc, I gather that for whatever reason I'm getting this error because lirc isn't recognizing my USB receiver. Has anyone found a way to get it working? My remote is a Gyration GYR3101US. Most of my remote is currently working but I'd like to get more of it's buttons functional.

Edit: Instead of being in /sys/class/rc/ this is where I found my remote
Kodi:~ # ls /sys/class/input/input0/device/driver/
Code:
0003:0C16:0002.0001  0003:0C16:0002.0002  bind                 new_id               uevent               unbind

So if lirc would look in /sys/class/input/ instead? Just a thought.
