then reboot the pi but it does not seem to have any effect, what am I missing? Thanks and sorry if that was explained already, just could not find it.

The problem I am trying to solve is seeking in bluray iso - it simply does not work, like I press "right" once and nothing happens in 20 minutes but the movie itself plays just fine.

Make sure you have enabled the included version of VDR VNSI Client first, otherwise the Kodi addon system tries to install an out of date version of the client when installing the server.
