You mentioned that there would be no "info" view with information that appears on hover. If you look at the skin mod I sent you, I actually really like the way the "list" view turned out. I think it is a nice compromise where the slide in information does not "overpower" the screen. You could do something like that with a toggle in the settings menu to turn it off for users who only want the name of the movie and no info.
I think it would actually look really good on the third image down on http://www.aeonproject.com/gallery.html the image with casino royale as the top poster. The background is already opaque so the text would standout. The list could fade out and the info could slide/fade in. You have a lot of realestate to work with in that box that frames the list. That way you would be able to fit a nice bit of plot summary and maybe a few goodies like the Audio and Video logos. Just a thought.

I'll happily entertain any suggestions after March, but I'll be more than busy enough making a stable foundation before then. I'll redo this forum with all the relevant threads for features, bugs, etc, so be sure to remind me in there when the time comes.

One of the reasons for my questions is that i'm usually browsing for a movie to watch not knowing what i want to see. Under movies you have to select a genre, under videos you can display all.
Hawk as you stated i do see that i can see my family videos or anyother type taht i've added.
So what i'm hoping to do is under movies and the genre have an option for "all" currently i've only got 150 HD movies so isn't too bad yet.

There is an option for "title" which will show you all the movies in your library.

library movies is alot better then just regular videos .. in addition to browsing all or by genre .. i most often use Recently Added Movies (and tv shows obviously also)

Well, I think, as djh_ mentioned, it's primary intent is to be used in library mode--thats what skinners "pretty up" --without library mode, it's just a fancy file browser.
I use the videos section to refresh movie information/tv info that never makes it into the library for whatever reason. It's also handy for xvids that you don't want to catalogue with HD content. (i use library for mkv movies and tv only).

so i tried last night to find the title section of the genre in movies. Was unable to find this. is there a setting or option that needs to be selected?

Perhaps when he goes into "movies" he needs to go back one... then left/right to select title/genre/etc ---Make sure movies is on library as well, not files.

Will there be a search feature implemented into this release? Just wondering, my collection is just shy of 1800 movies..takes a while to scroll.

I think the search functionality is being implemented in the next milestone release of XBMC
