RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [v3.15 - 2015/03/29]6 - D-an-W - 2015-04-01 Morning Matt, nothing wrong but is the current topic a typo (2015/03/29]6)? I was just checking if I was up to date? RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [v3.15 - 2015/03/29]6 - stuCONNERS - 2015-04-01 @matt got it working, took 3 goes at getting it working. Is SSH or FTP disabled in that custom build. Using putty and putting the ip address gives connection refused, and the same with FTP software filezilla. Quick look at my network settings is showing that my DNS has gone to 127.0.0.1 would that stop me from getting into it? EDIT; Solved Turns out there isnt an SSH server installed on that version. I'm not sure what services are enabled by default in Ubuntu or Kodibuntu, but there ought to be an easy way to check. Your DNS servers should be automatically set by your DHCP server, or if using a manual/static IP, you need to set it yourself RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [v3.15 - 2015/03/29] - stuCONNERS - 2015-04-01 No idea in the end. Probably a busted USB stick, I`m running this custom one and the official kodibuntu. The official kodi version seems way easier to use. Im hitting problem after problem with this custom build. Changing the dns server on the custom build gets written back to 127.0.0.1, Kodi build, uses the ip address of my router. Tvheadend install works perfect on kodibuntu, cant even login on the custom build after installing, Most of the wiki instructions don't work on this custom build, But again fine on the official kodibuntu builds. I wouldnt recommend it at the moment. If you know how to stop kodibuntu from setting up swap, id go back to that, but i`ll lose 5GB from the SSD.. RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [v3.15 - 2015/03/29] - stuCONNERS - 2015-04-01 for example updating from 14.1 to 14.2 version of kodi, if you follow the wiki, the update works on the official kodibuntu, on the custom one, doesnt work. It doesnt update kodi. been using tvheadend and transmission for a while now, neither will work on the custom build, follow the same instructions and they work great on the official kodi builds. Idle on the official build is a few percent, custom build idle is over 70% when shutting down on the kodi build, it doesn't spin my external hard-drive up, custom build, spins my hdd then cuts power. Sounds like it going to damage my external hard drive. RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [v3.15 - 2015/03/29] - fma965 - 2015-04-01 Ok so im in ubuntu live boot right now but how do i make my standalone install boot usb first like "add script option for USB boot default for standalone firmware" i don't see any option? EDIT: never mind i got it thanks. RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [v3.15 - 2015/03/29] - fma965 - 2015-04-04 Matt, Your script doesn't seem to work at setting the USB as default, i loaded ubuntu 14 x64 and ran the script, updated the firmware and pressed y at the prompt but still boots internal ssd first.any ideas? EDIT: i tried with chormiumOS and same thing, no errors just doesn't work, I even factory reset everything back to fully stock and then re-wrote the standalone firmware to it... but still nothing. If you press ESC for the boot menu, you should see that any USB devices are now listed first, whereas previously the internal SSD was. RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [v3.15 - 2015/03/29] - carlson.v - 2015-04-04 Hi Matt, i have asus with celeron 2955u. i have currently standalone ubuntu 14.10. i was wondering if there is a setting in BIOS to increase performance like a "step up" to the current speeds? im sorry im a noob on this stuff forgive me if i referenced BIOS when it shouldn't have. i was told that some manufactures offer a "performance tweak' in the BIOS. i'm asking this because when using kodi it doesn't seem to have the speed that has been mentioned by others and i thought perhaps they have a tweak or setting that i could enable. i have gone to the kodi website and there is a section there that explains how to adjust userdata folder for buffering capacity and speeds etc. at the bottom of the page there was a list of settings that were recommended for best case scenario. i used those settings and changed them in the userdata folder (advanced settings). i realize this may be off topic from what this thread is for but i am just explaining what i did so you know what i did and whether or not your script can help or a setting that you use to help me out thank you for any help/direction offered RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [v3.15 - 2015/03/29] - fritsch - 2015-04-04 There is no speed button. From what one can interpret in your posting - it seems you are missing proper drivers (vaapi and most likely also kernel) to enjoy kodi the right way. The wiki has some notes about that. RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [v3.15 - 2015/03/29] - Matt Devo - 2015-04-04 There are no user accessible settings in the Chromebox's firmware/BIOS; if you're having performance issues, then as fritsch said it's like due to an out of date kernel RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [v3.15 - 2015/03/29] - carlson.v - 2015-04-04 (2015-04-04, 19:41)fritsch Wrote: There is no speed button.
