the A6-3500 is the best current HTPC APU in my opinion!
Do the more cores need better cooling or is the 65W the only variable to worry about?

For HTPC, A6-3500 should be fine. As far as playback, it should be identical because it have the same HD6530D in it!

A little confused on the build.. I thought the parts in post one would fit in the recommended case from post one (the apex MI008). The included power supply cant be installed with the stock CPU cooler
I assumed that since the Scythe fan was not included in the build list (like in the A8 build), that the stock cooler would suffice. Is the Scythe SCKZT-1000 cooler shorter than the stock AMD cooler?Thanks for all the info BluRay, Eskro and the rest of the comunity.. I'm real close to having me an xbmc screamer.

Answered my own question.. On newegg the dimensions are 40mm or 1.6 inches tall and the stock cooler is about 2 inches or 48mm. Im still concerned that about 50% of the heatsink will be covered by the PSU.

Huh I can't seem to get the stock cooler on my 3670k to fit underneath the MI 008 PSU either....

Well, turns out I can get it under the psu if I pull back on the PSU a bit...it's actually touching the heatsink now but that doesn't really matter I spose
