RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/05/17] - TMadMac - 2015-05-26 Hi there ! Thank you for all the great work to make Kodi runs on chromebox. I have purchase one, to replace my good-old E3200+nvidia 610 setup. Everything seems to work fine except a little snag : I can not achieve to passthrough HD audio properly. I have a Denon 1910 receiver. Everything plays well with the E3200+610. On the chromebox, sound is send to receiver but level is very very low : I have to set up the volume more than 20db higher than normal to ear a sound. Before crying it is a bug, asking for help and giving you a bunch of logs, I try to figure out if this is a known problem. So, thank you for any pointers to discussion/already solved problem with this setup : chromebox + OE 5.0.8 or Kodi 14.2 -> HDMI passthrough -> Denon 1910 RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/05/17] - Matt Devo - 2015-05-26 (2015-05-26, 19:49)TMadMac Wrote: Hi there ! I'm unclear exactly what your problem is - is that that HD passthru isn't working, or that it's working and the volume is too low? If the former, what constitutes not working? What are your Audio Output settings? Take a screenshot (CTRL-S) and post them. There's no known issues with the ChromeBox and HD audio output, with the exception of receives that don't correctly advertise their capabilities via EDID (mostly Pioneer IIRC). RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/05/17] - aaronb - 2015-05-27 Setup my 2nd Chromebox for the basement TV yesterday. Smooth and flawless process, from cutting the seal on the box to playing a video in probably 20 minutes, the old lady said "it's done already?". Thanks for all of your work Matt RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/05/17] - TMadMac - 2015-05-27 (2015-05-26, 20:01)Matt Devo Wrote: I'm unclear exactly what your problem is - is that that HD passthru isn't working, or that it's working and the volume is too low? There's no known issues with the ChromeBox and HD audio output, with the exception of receives that don't correctly advertise their capabilities via EDID (mostly Pioneer IIRC). That's the first assumption : HD audio are pass through but volume level is really low. Usually, I sets up a level of -30db but with HD audio I must go up to 0 or +5db just to ear something. As you point some EDID potential problems, I will look further in that direction. I will try to find some other receiver to test with. Just to be sure, I will post a log and settings : I might be lucky and something would find my error. Thanks for the tips about EDID. RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/05/17] - Matt Devo - 2015-05-27 EDID would only be a factor if the HD audio formats were not showing/selectable in the Audio Output options. Given that it is literally passing the bitstream from the file to your receiver, there's no level adjustment taking place. Perhaps your receiver has an option for volume offset based on input format? There's not likely anything you can do from the Chromebox end. RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/05/17] - TMadMac - 2015-05-27 (2015-05-27, 18:34)Matt Devo Wrote: EDID would only be a factor if the HD audio formats were not showing/selectable in the Audio Output options. There's not likely anything you can do from the Chromebox end. That's what I finally figure out. I will search deeper for the receiver configuration (or try to explains my wife we "must" change it ). Thanks Matt ! It's finally the receiver : when I play a film with HD audio at first the sound level is very low. If I play a film with DTS for example, then HD audio sound level is correct. RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/05/17] - darebee - 2015-05-28 I used the script way back in the past and still love my chromebox. However, recently every time it tries to wake from Suspend it tries to play the Kodi intro movie and gets locked up. Doesn't look like it is connected to the NAS for the shared library anymore either. Sometimes I can just perform a reboot and all is fixed but if I don't un-suspend the box for more than a few hours it will freeze on display the Kodi intro movie. This did not happen with earlier builds. I do have the sleep script configured to wake the receiver up because in the past I had audio problems without it. Any thoughts? Are others having this problem too or is it just me? I'm thinking about preventing the box from going into suspend mode at all but would much rather get this working again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Darren RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/05/17] - Matt Devo - 2015-05-28 (2015-05-28, 02:25)darebee Wrote: I used the script way back in the past and still love my chromebox. I like to use this addon to watch game trailers but in openelec it just rebuffers every 10 seconds or so. Is there a way to set more ram to internet buffering or something? In android you could set the available ram buffer. Is there a way to set more ram to internet buffering or something? there's a Kodi wiki article on setting the cache/buffer sizes, which I've already linked to once in this thread RE: Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBox EZ Setup (OpenELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2015/05/17] - Namoi - 2015-05-28 Sorry for the little of topics, but i couldn't get a clear answer on Openelec forum for using Symlinks for my mkv. I just want to kept them appart from my library structure for backing purpose. I am just not sure if kodi/openelec could handle them nicely. Thanks and again sorry for the off topic.
