Bump since I think this got lost at the bottom of a page in this active thread. Or at least, I didn't see any responses from anyone.

retrieverfalcon Wrote:Can I make a new feature request? Would it be possible to add custom sub menu options to the Programs and Pictures menus? I am thinking the ability to have a submenu for Programs that might show for example SVN in one space and apps from Launcher configurably in the other spaces. On Pictures, we might include both Plugins (like Movies and Music) but also the ability to have different sources be a sub menu. If we do something configurable like this, I suspect the configurable scripts settings screen would need to be reorganized. I don't even know if this is possible but it would be a nice shortcut. Thanks for trying.

This would be up to Aenima99x or zosky. Only because I wouldnt have a clue on where to start on this.

in theory what you ask for is available - within the script sub-menu you can turn on/off custom buttons, then define their label & point to any script (.py file)... you want one of these in each sub-menu (& allow it to point to anything)?

i think you need something like this ...
  • in "720p/custom_Skinsettings.xml"
  • start by duplicating one of the script [button-blocks] into each of the "sub-menu" sections
  • define & customise each one as needed.
  • in "720p/Home.xml" do almost the same thing...
  • find one of the scipt [sub-menu-buttons], & duplicate into each of the sub-menus
    and bob-should be your uncle.

it sounds like a fairly simple, copy/paste/hak type mod,... & fairly time consuming one also Rolleyes
im happy with the current options and want to play with other things (@music).
Aenima is out this week, so not sure what he thinks.

many hands make for light work - consider rolling up your sleeves and showing us something cool, we may all benefit. i've only been doing this for a few month, (its pretty easy to copy/paste/hak).

i figure this is fair game now that Bob__ "and his friend" posted it to the forum.

im only using the originals as a reference point, anyway.
I'm stocking new elements, like the real moon.

i have a lot more work to do Confused

Xbox+fanart performace problem - lupick - 2009-08-12

Dear All,

I've noticed that with the latest skin build with fanart enabled I can't use anymore FFW/REW or skip forward watching video.

Anyone else with this problem on Xbox??

where I can download an older Mediastrem-Mod version??

Thank you

L.

- SlaveUnit - 2009-08-12

This is probably due to that whopping 64M of ram that an xbox has. It probably has no space in the buffer left. Im sure the fan art eats up a lot of it.

If you go through the post I have posted a lot of these on mediafire. So you can download any one of those.

ok, i was a bit busy today, but now i'm working on german strings.xml Wink

note it will most likely not be a word 2 word translation -> my focus is more on understanding what something does Wink

edit: i have another big one: while playing video content, open the info page. the section is entitled GRAFIK-INFORMATIONEN in german, which is simply not the right context. it should be reading something like "video informationen" - i encourage you to replace string number 20159 in VideoOSDCommons.xml (line 265) with 31020 and for string id 31020 in english strings.xml enter "Video Information". I already put the string for the german translation to id 31020 in german strings.xml.

of course you have to add that for the other translations done so far - as i'm no linguist, i can't do more than english and german Wink

update: half way done - found some more strings to be corrected. i guess i'll collect them and give you the totals, then. now i go to sleep.

Anywhere to download latest other than GIT?

- Bram77 - 2009-08-13

You can download the update here -> http://www.mediafire.com/file/nz2fvfjmhyg/all-weather.rar
And version 1.1.4 from here -> http://xbmc-xbox-skins.googlecode.com/files/MediaStream%20Redux%20Mod%20v1.1.4.rar

The default fanart backgrounds are somewhat reduced in size (960x540) to save memory on the XBOX though, nothing else in the skin has been touched. Simply install version 1.1.4 and overwrite with the files in the update.

Here is the latest 1.1.5 without any adjustments

guys please help me understand why so many of us are enemies of GIT ?

honestly, i was too, until i heard Floss Weekly 19,
where Randal Schwartz and Leo Laporte interviewed Junio Hamano, maintainer of GIT.
its revolutionary, kinda easy, and sorta fun Cool

at first i was getting the whole ZIP each time
but GIT grabs only the incremental changes
meaning no need to deleting the older ver; download the new & unzip

  1. to "install" > go to /xbmc-skin-dir > $git clone <git repo url>
  2. to "update" > go to /xbmc-skin-dir/MS-redux-mod/ dir > $git pull
( wash rinse & repeat step 2 as needed )

for the winblows slackers our there -- i have to imagine the GUI tool makes it even easier ?
am i missing something fundamental Huh
