RE: [MAC] ViMediaManager - Media Manager for Mac OS X! - MariusTh86 - 2012-11-08

It's in the final stages of testing and ironing out last minute bugs, and i'm not planning to add any more features. (Unless something else pops up all of a sudden.)

So hopefully very soon indeed. ^^

I am not able to see the list of TV Shows in 0.6a6. It used to work fine before I upgraded to this version. The TV shows button is grayed out. Can someone help me get this working again ? I am not sure where to look for errors or logs.

RE: [MAC] ViMediaManager - Media Manager for Mac OS X! - MariusTh86 - 2012-11-09

The TV show section in 0.6 hasn't been made it, you'll have to switch back to 0.5.x, but you can use the two versions side by side of each other.

RE: [MAC] ViMediaManager - Media Manager for Mac OS X! - tenzion - 2012-11-09

Nice. At last a media manager to OS X.
Would it be possible to add mymovies.dk as an option to provide metadata?

RE: [MAC] ViMediaManager - Media Manager for Mac OS X! - MariusTh86 - 2012-11-09

I'm not sure, maybe if they provide a free API for developers to look at their data, but i'm suspecting that they might keep their data private for use in their applications only, or possibly by paying for it if i look at their xbmc scraper option.

RE: [MAC] ViMediaManager - Media Manager for Mac OS X! - MariusTh86 - 2012-11-11

ViMediaManager v0.6α7
https://github.com/downloads/vidalvanbergen/ViMediaManager/ViMediaManager-0.6α7.dmg

What's new:
  • [New] Dropped the unofficial IMDb and the Top250 API's in favour of a scraper that takes it's information from the IMDb itself.
  • [New] Added an option to show poster images in the list. (Note that this may decrease performance)
  • [New] Instead of completely refreshing the list, it now updates it. meaning it'll only add new movies if it finds them instead of adding every movie every time, and removes items it can no longer find.
  • [New] Added recommendations to the metadata editor, but you'll have to update your movies first.
  • [New] You can now update a single movie by right-clicking it in the list and choosing 'update movie'.
  • [New] You can now get rid some of the visual clutter by disabling one or more of the mini-icons in the list.
  • [New] Changed the layout of the main movie information display, showing more information with less clutter.
  • [New] Updated growlnotify from 1.3 to 2.0.
  • [New] Preliminary Boxee support option, which places database ID's at the bottom of the NFO, and adding full shell path for the local poster image thumb.
  • [New] Added new options to sort the list by movie file size and duration, and added checkmarks to display which options are currently selected.
  • [New] Added 'kijkwijzer' symbols to go with the new MPAA rating information.
  • [Dif] Improved search results by adding a direct IMDb search back-up.
  • [Dif] Introduced some caching to the search results window, and tweaked the layout a bit.
  • [Dif] Made items that are marked as watched a bit more noticeable by marking their background.
  • [Dif] The main & metadata editor's windows have gotten new toolbar icons to match the latest Mac OS X Style. (And are retina ready once there's a stable 'cocoa' build)
  • [Dif] Made the actors list re-orderable.
  • [Dif] Changed the way it searches for valid .nfo files.
  • [Dif] Enabled drag-reordering in the sets manager, but be warned, it's not entirely stable.
  • [Dif] First studio is set as default studio while the rest is placed aside, fixing this XBMC Skin bug: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=82987
  • [Fix] Fixed a bug where genres where only downloaded in english, now downloads in the correct localisation when available.
  • [Fix] Fixed where it would incorrectly read the subtitle data, leaving it with nothing to write back down to the NFO file on a subsequent save.
  • [Fix] Fixed a bug where it would incorrectly handle VIDEO_TS files and extra images during automatic renaming.
  • [Fix] Re-added missing trailer icon in the metadata editor’s toolbar.
  • [Fix] Fixed where special characters wouldn't show correctly in the search window.
  • [Fix] Lots of bug fixes and changes.

P.S.
Also available is the somewhat experimental, and still unstable 'cocoa' build.
https://github.com/downloads/vidalvanbergen/ViMediaManager/ViMediaManager-0.6α7_Cocoa.zip

Pro's:
------
Big speed bump up!
Almost completely retina ready.

Con's:
------
Random unexplainable hang-ups.
Some big memory leaks.
And possibly odd behaviour.

P.P.S.
Starting this release, I'll also be trying to release random 'nightlies' from here:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/2s3f8uhh8jh1l0q/0seaBWnMqs
Let me know if this link works.

They won't actually be updated nightly, possibly more like weekly, and they're gonna be buggy, so try at your own risk!

P.P.P.S
Also available, translation tool!
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/2s3f8uhh8jh1l0q/ygmPnZkZjb/Translations
Just download the 'Lingua Translation App' and the language you want to translate to, open up the language file with the translation app, and begin translating!
I hope it's all pretty straight forward enough, I've never done this before, so I bet i'll get a bunch of translations send in. Wink
If your language isn't available at the link, let me know and i'll add your language to the list! Wink

Any and all translations can be send to:

Hi
I've starting to translate into Swedish but there's a few words and sentences that I need to "see in action - live" if you know what I mean? Can I place the rbi-file somewhere to activate it in ViMediaManager or can you create a Swedish application for me to check once I send you the translated file?

RE: [MAC] ViMediaManager - Media Manager for Mac OS X! - efty.edge - 2012-11-11

Hi Marius.

First many thanks for the new version and the time and work you spent to realize it. And of course the Umlaut problem seems really to be history! Thats really nice...

But in the last two hours i tested the normal and the cocoa version of viMM. Both seems to be very unstable and crash during the scraping process. I have no clue why it crashed because it's randomly ... The only movie i can force a crash is the Movie 'Sherlock Homes: Spiel im Schatten'. Everytime i try to scrape it viMM exits at the point 'Recommendation Information'. Here is the Error-Log i could send to Apple.

Error Log on Pastebin

After that i have two requests. Please use the Audio Stream Information from the Metadata Summary Tab to populate the Language Field in the Information Tab. And the Plot in the Information Tab has german content and the Outline an english one. Why don't you use the first two sentence of the Plot to fill the Outline.

So - enough. I will go on to test viMM in the next hours and days and try to help you...

Thanx again.

Efty

RE: [MAC] ViMediaManager - Media Manager for Mac OS X! - MariusTh86 - 2012-11-11

@efty.edge:
Does it always crash at recommendation information?
Apparantly I can't expect to be certain that data that is practically promised to be available, to actually be available... ^^;
Try out this build to see if it fixes it:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/nsxz4wj50smwjvu/l5EtBoRwmI

Language field:
The summary tab data isn't always available it seems, but i'll look into it, when it is available it does seem to have a higher chance of being correct then TMDB's data.

And plot:
Currently it's falling back to english if it's available and localised is not, since plot is generally a summarised summary.
If it's preferred to cut off and grab the first one or two lines from the full plot instead, i'll look into that as well.

@Aros:
Good question! it seems that with lingua you can actually do this yourself. ^^

Open up lingua, click on the 'File' menu and go down to the last item in the list called 'Export' in english, and select the top item 'To application' ( cmd+E ).
Once you've done that, select ViMediaManager, and the language will be exported to the app.
After you've done that the first time, from then on it seems like you can test the app by going to the 'export' menu and selecting 'To application and run' ( cmd+R )

This is also new for me, so let me know if this works. Wink

RE: [MAC] ViMediaManager - Media Manager for Mac OS X! - efty.edge - 2012-11-11

Hi Marius.

Quote:It could be that it's not reacting well to an old NFO file if you ever created one using another Media Manager?
Remove the preferences under your ~/Library/Preferences/com.vidalvanbergen.xml to try again and using a test folder with just a movie in it.

I tried your tipp but it doesen't help. When i test it again the only thing in the folder was the movie file. No nfo or something else. And viMM crashed again the same way.

But if i use your new test build it works fine!!!! No more crash during the scraping process.

Hope that helps and thanks for that.

Efty

No, It doesn't work. There's no change in the application. I'm sending you the file so far, if you can please PM me a Swedish app.

Cocoa version is just beautiful! Really awesome work Marius! I'll be using this version and leave feedback on any bug I might find.

I'll also try to find time and make a translation for Portuguese (Portugal).

Keep up the good work and congrats!
