I have been using the YTD Video Downloader program (free version) but it's really slow downloading large files. They throttle the DL speed in order to get you to upgrade to the paid PRO version.

Try this web-based YouTube Downloader: http://www.downvids.net/download-youtube-videos

I just tried it and it's great. Much better than YTD.

This hasn't been updated since Feb 2017, has 3.5 rating and 10K+ downloads on PlayStore.

@anxdpanic Hi, was away for a while.

You asked if the issue with “Loading” overlay staying on screen with Amber skin had been reported to the skin developer.

Yes, I reported it, but got no answer Smile that’s why I thought you’d have better luck contacting them.

Anyway, it’s not a big deal, but hope it will be resolved.

Thank you!

Can't tell exactly what the error is, I suspect the add-on accessing the same file at the same time or similar.
That said, I'm not sure that is the expected behavior between osd and json-rpc, the crash definitely isn't expected though. Would post in General Support - Windows with details and log as well
Hi, I posted the issue in Windows support and meanwhile discovered that it has something to do with MCE remote commands. PatK could replicate and responded that it's probably an error in the addon. Do you need anything from me to investigate this?

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - mv-- - 2018-08-29

@anxdpanic
Seems that with latest Kodi 18 build and plugin 6.2.0~alpha3 external player stopped working for some reason. When selecting "Play with" option nothing happens and menu with players list is not shown, log seems to be empty. Tapping on video launches Video Player which doest start when using full links option is selected in the plugin.

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - anxdpanic - 2018-08-30

@siliconhippy
ffmpeg->HLS should continue to work in Kodi 18, unless YouTube makes changes that break things again.
1. Will still require inputstream.adaptive for mpeg-dash
2. Likely dependant on the system, have no clear answer

@sangean
It looks like there are banned_addons (wiki) present, will need a clean debug_log (wiki) for support.

@WeirdH
I replied in your thread regarding the issue. I will try to resolve it, atm not sure it can be resolved reliably from the add-on.

@mv--
External player isn't working for the add-on in 18, there is a trac ticket open for it.
We touched on that; https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=325740&pid=2757980#pid2757980

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - Cthalin - 2018-08-30

Hi,

I've just noticed two days back that Youtube videos cant be played anymore on my OpenElec Kodi box. I have pasted the log here: http://sprunge.us/kkm1QK
Maybe someone can point me to a solution Smile

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - anxdpanic - 2018-08-30

@Cthalin
You're using a version of script.module.requests that's unfamiliar, it's in the script.module.requests-gotham folder instead of script.module.requests. You can try installing https://mirrors.kodi.tv/addons/jarvis/script.module.requests/script.module.requests-2.12.4.zip from zip. You may have to manually remove the version you have installed.
If that doesn't resolve it, enable debug logging, restart, reproduce the issue and post the resulting debug_log (wiki).

@anxdpanic

Really glad to know Kodi18 shouldn't be veering off HLS live streaming !

I am faced with a major upgrade including potential xupnpd which is why I am collecting all this info. See post#10 here if interested, hope xupnpd can be incorporated for live action:

Again much appreciate your straight answers 🐈🐅

Thanks. Just seems odd coz there has always been a dl option somewhere in the add-on since the very beginning, even back in the early days of xbmc, so it feels like its missing something now. I guess you just get used to it being there and take it for granted.
So is there nothing within kodi that works for dl now?

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - Cthalin - 2018-08-31

@anxdpanic
Thank you for your help. I've manually deinstalled the requests-gotham addon and replaced it with the new requests addon. Restarted, tried again - unfortunately Youtube still couldnt play any video. It just came to my mind to deinstall the YT addon itself and reinstall it, just to try out the dumb way  Big Grin Aaaand it worked. I really don't know what was the root cause of this, but now I am able to stream YT videos again just fine.  Huh
Anyway, thank you again for your help!

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - anxdpanic - 2018-09-01

@sangean I tried reproducing with the same Kodi version, and the Confluence skin and duration is shown for all videos. Are you able take a screenshot showing what you're seeing?

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - anxdpanic - 2018-09-01

I've updated post #2 with ~alpha4

@DjDiabolik This should resolve 'Play with subtitles' not marking videos as watched.
