XBMC installed on the PC gives me access to these drives as the Fire TV does not. RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - Enesce - 2014-04-11 Can anyone report on the playback quality of 10-bit (hi10p) encoded mkv files? Would love to know if the software processor on the Fire TV is strong enough to do 10-bit videos without much pixelation. RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - Koying - 2014-04-11 Next iteration: 12.3.3_4 (big hopes on this one ) http://filez.semperpax.com/lhyved3u RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - crackd - 2014-04-11 (2014-04-11, 03:41)DiegoMejia Wrote: So you got choppy video when you played the monsters sample on xbmc for ouya 12.3.2? Plays fine on my firetv. Let me find out what version of fire TV I'm running. Good news on my playing issues: I did a factory reset on Fire TV, reinstalled Ouya 12.3.2, and Monsters video play perfectly. I then tested SPMC 12.3.3_2, and also get perfect playback. Only differences between my previous Fire TV setup and this working one is the following: - on old setup had sideloaded HBO Go & SSHDroid - on old setup, my first SPMC/Ouya installs had network share to full movies directory added -- whereas new setup just linked to my "test" folder, which contains just the sample movies from auby.no (of course, later installs on old setup also just linked to "test" folder too) Anyway, at least it's working now. I'll try 12.3.3_4 now [EDIT] If anyone wants me to upload a log file of playback for comparison against my past debug logs w/ Ouya or 12.3.3_2, let me know. RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - dismantler - 2014-04-11 Using 12.3.3_4 over wired connection with firetv version 51.1.0.1_user_510055620. All surround sound disabled. libstagefright enabled. Streamed through windows SMB. Monsters test file appears to have smooth play back and no dropped frames reported. http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=171442 (2014-04-11, 03:49)cstark27 Wrote: XBMC on Ouya does not have a "main" activity, so I'm not sure at the moment how to get it to go back to the main menu when running this profile. But oh well. Download keymap editor from progam add-ons: Edit>Global>Activate Window>Home Launching kftv from android programs will take you back to fire launcher. You can favorite it, as well as Netflix or whatever other android app and then add it to the home menu. Hope this helps. I'll try 12.3.3_3 to make sure it doesn't work (as others reported) [UPDATE] Confirmed: 12.3.3_3 has dropped frames & choppy video RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - Koying - 2014-04-11 (2014-04-11, 13:37)crackd Wrote: 12.3.3_4 works great for me with Monsters video over ethernet with audio 2.0 analog; settings default (no dropped frames, no skipping).Cool!! This is the Gotham build with the fix: http://mirrors.xbmc.org/test-builds/android/arm/xbmc-20140411-88ab6ea-fixamcoutput-armeabi-v7a.apk Only libstagefright is (should be) fixed! As a reminder, this one is pure xbmc, with a specific signature, so can be installed alongside spmc/ouya builds. RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - dismantler - 2014-04-11 Re-test with Gotham. Firetv version 51.1.0.1_user_510055620. DTS/DD disabled. libstagefright enabled. Streamed through windows SMB Left mediacodec on by accident and it crashed back to desktop, captured in log. Monsters test file played good, no dropped frames, but had an audio sync issue over optical. http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=171455 RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - dankec2000 - 2014-04-11 What do you think what would be better device: FireTV or Amlogic S802 M8? Specs are similar and the price identical... It's quite common on Android. You can adjust it globally in the audio options of the playback or via advancedsettings.xml. Let me know if I should test anything else specifically and/or if you want debug logs/video RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - Koying - 2014-04-11 (2014-04-11, 14:02)dankec2000 Wrote: FireTV or Amlogic S802 M8?What's important is from whom you buy the device. Ebay or other obscure vendors means little to no support... If the newest Pivos box proves to be an Amlogic M8, it's a sure winner... RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - dismantler - 2014-04-11 (2014-04-11, 14:02)dankec2000 Wrote: What do you think what would be better device: I have experience with a single core amlogic andoid set top box and I will say that it had excellent video quality in every application. That said, an incredible amount of shit was broken when I first got the box and the company did not manage the fallout on the forums well, or provide real fixes. I'm not talking odd-ball things like poor touch support or things you'd expect couldn't be helped on an Android set top box, no, the ethernet was practically crippled at first, wifi would flake, force closes were common and it lacked a true 1080p kernel. However I did manage a decent Android experience after a LOT of tweaking, reading, trying different ROMs and so on. It did have a very good build of XBMC for linux. The dual-core they came out with next had similar issues as well. Mentioning this as a cautionary tale because right now, the fire is out. It has support, a real 1080 kernel and is already hand over fist better than my last experience. Also the S802 may not support DTS/Dolby pass through: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.php?10472-EM8-Amlogic-S802-quad-core-2Ghz-Octa-core-Mali-450-FIRST-PRICE-INFO!&p=150752&viewfull=1#post150752 "and as what i have told before, for s802 chip, amlogic have three version. S802 S802D (also called S802-H) s802dd( also called S802-B) and the s802 chip should not support Dolby and DTS. but amlogic hasn't released the S802h and s802b chip. so the first bulk (about 100pcs) should use the S802 chip." On the flip side, the fire lacks an IR interface, access to mass storage via USB (currently), google play store access, and should amazon ever decide to lock it down there's probably not a damn thing we can do about it without constantly finding side-steps. This was with 5.1 channels on XBMC. I didn't see a optical/HDMI setting in Gotham, so I assume it is now done automatically, but correct me if I'm wrong. I'll just test with my tv audio from now on. Edit: Missed your post there Koying.
