RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - JPDeckers - 2014-04-12 (2014-04-12, 02:36)Netix Wrote:(2014-04-12, 02:20)ilovemymac Wrote: Anyone know how this could be used overseas and still access amazon Netflix and Xbmc stuff? Or is it possibleYup with http://www.unblock-us.com/ .. never tried it but saw it earlier in this thread..! Correct, only thing that doesn't work somehow is YouTube on the FTV, get a 'unavailable / pricing unavailable' message when trying to 'install' (create a shortcut). But XBMC - YT plugin works. (Not 3, not 0, 1.) NOW I have my Harmony remote fully controlling the Fire and XBMC the way I want it to. (*Thinks about making snarky "boyfriend acceptance factor" joke, refrains*) I have a generic IR learning remote and I'm having the same issue with the Ortek Remote. I've tried hold the buttons down for different lengths of time and at different spacings, but nothing is working. So while the Ortek remote is much nicer than I expected for $12, I'm pretty much right back where I was. Update: I actually got it to work. I read through this guide: http://www.remotecentral.com/features/irtips.htm I used the fly boy method (start the remotes far apart and fly in quickly while holding the transmitting button from original remote) from that guide in a dark room with no monitors and after a few tries it works. RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - Koying - 2014-04-12 This Gotham build should bring you passthrough (to be enabled in audio settings, of course): http://mirrors.xbmc.org/test-builds/android/arm/xbmc-20140412-1d32fd0-AmazonFire-armeabi-v7a.apk RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - Koying - 2014-04-12 (2014-04-12, 06:08)jsp1 Wrote: I would like to report my results. I have tried all available builds from this thread and original XBMC for Ouya is still the winner.Note that the Ouya (12.3.2) and SPMC 12.3.3 builds had a nasty bug that made vids stutter beyond the ~60min mark due to a memory leak. So not recommended above SPMC 12.4.2 or Gotham... RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - Koying - 2014-04-12 Conflicting info re video codecs: https://developer.amazon.com/public/solutions/devices/fire-tv/docs/media-specifications says VP8 is supported but not VC1 http://www.amazon.com/Fire-TV-streaming-media-player/dp/B00CX5P8FC#tech says VC1 is supported but not VP8 RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - Tinwarble - 2014-04-12 (2014-04-12, 11:28)Koying Wrote: This Gotham build should bring you passthrough (to be enabled in audio settings, of course): http://mirrors.xbmc.org/test-builds/android/arm/xbmc-20140412-1d32fd0-AmazonFire-armeabi-v7a.apk Testing now. I'll update on results shortly. RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - Tinwarble - 2014-04-12 Ok, tested the build using this video as a test (libstagefright on / mediacodec off) PHP Code: General The video played as smooth a butter all the way through. No frame drops, judders, stutters or anything else that I noticed. DTS pass-through also had no issues (haven't tried DD yet). The only issue that I have now is that every time I start XBMC I have to manually set the audio mode on my AVR for the first movie I play. Once I set it for the first one then everything is fine, but if I don't then I get the static/noise issue. This is probably because I have a Denon AVR and is probably not an issue with other brands. I have to say this is probably a keeper. Great job Koying. Libstagefright and software based decoding with multithreading stutter on my divx/xvid videos. While my old OUYA with mediacodec plays them smooth. Is it XBMC that does this, or is there a MediaCodec team? How can I get involved? Also, do you know why it is that when I'm running libstagefright my cpu usage is at like 30 percent across only 3 cores, and then when I switch to software multithreading I get the exact same results, about 30% across three cores. It's as if making the change to software decoding did nothing. Thanks Koying. Or no HD still? Thanks again and thank you for pointing out the bug in the Ouya release. I haven't experienced it yet, but it is good to know about. I guess update is imperative. Been using XBMC for years now on other devices. But just got my Fire TV and loaded Koying's Beta 4 just posted above in post #1098. http://mirrors.xbmc.org/test-builds/android/arm/xbmc-20140412-1d32fd0-AmazonFire-armeabi-v7a.apk It's running really slow. Frame rate is really bogged down. Noobie question, does this have something to do with the mediacodec needing to be turned off and libstagegright turned on? If so, how do I turn them off/on? I've done some searching of the forum already, it it seems libstagefright is built into all the latest xbmc nightlies for awhile now, so I'm assuming I have to merely figure out how to disable mediacodec? Or just hardware decoding in general from within XBMC? Not finding it. Thanks. Looking forward to giving an update for eveyrone's benefit once it starts playing smoothly. All help appreciated! RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - thess - 2014-04-12 Deleted due to being well intentioned, but wrong in almost every particular. RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - Tinwarble - 2014-04-12 @ Rational, Yes you need to turn mediacodec off. Go to Settings > Video, then make sure you change the "Settings Level" to "Advanced" or "Expert". You'll then see "Acceleration", select it and you should see the selections for libstagefright and mediacodec. Leave libstagefright on. (*Thinks about making snarky "boyfriend acceptance factor" joke, refrains*) Interesting, thanks. It's always good to have more tools in the arsenal. But I did discover one weird thing about the $12 Ortek and Harmony: using the Ortek's stock device profile in the Harmony software (once I found it), it still sent double-presses for up/down. Meaning, the 'stock' commands the Harmony thinks it should use for this device, NOT commands that I had manually learned with the Ortek remote. Adjusting the 'command repeat' to 1 on the device fixed that part. So either way it sounds like something that just needs to be tweaked from one direction or another. RE: Amazon Fire TV for XBMC - garvani - 2014-04-12 Its hard to gather the the state of lossless audio for these android builds! It would be awesome if the wiki had a section about audio it would make it so much easier for everyone. Can someone that has tested these builds with a capable receiver please clear this up. You would think if it could pass through one codec it could do the lot and this maybe the case? Ouya build im not sure about, i know it will pass dts and dd but havn't seen anything else regarding lossless. The latest spmc 12.4.2 passes through DTS/DD and one person commented DTS-es, how about anything else? The latest gotham (xbmc-20140412-1d32fd0-AmazonFire-armeabi-v7a.apk) is passing through DTS/DD has anyone tested DTS-MA? (my fire arrives in New Zealand early next week, cant wait!) |
