One more thing: is there any chance to have the ability to ignore the 'articles' (eg 'a', 'an', 'the', etc) when listing shows and movies?

Most items are now grouped under 't' and 'a' .... (The Matrix, etc)
This would be great if fixed, hell only ignore 'the' would be great.

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - Talemann - 2013-03-28

I was just wondering. Is it normal that if i want to type something into a text field which is already showing some text (like a search term which is already there from my last search) and i press the "back" button on the in app keyboard, that the whole line gets erased? Because, if i do the same thing with the "Backspace" button on a keyboard in such a case, it will only erase the last character. This sucks if you just want to just edit a little bit on the end of a string.

greets

a video preview that shows what's new with the 1.3 version (under development), that includes:

- new wall visualization for library movies sections: you can change from list view to wall view and the app will remember your choice for every sub-section*

- support for movie trailer playback on both the local device and on XBMC

- added movie sets support

* iOS 6 only

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - choyj - 2013-03-31

When playing a video, is there a way I can skip to the halfway point of the movie? i.e. if I use the mouse connected to the box running XBMC, I can just click in the middle of the progress bar and it will take me to the middle of the movie. With xbmcRemote, there's a slider that shows the progress of the video, but it's not slide-able. In order for me to skip to the halfway mark of the movie, AFAIK, I have to keep tediously tapping the forward key on the "Remote Control" section of XBMC until the progress bar on XBMC gets to the halfway point. This works well for mpg files. For MKV files, it only skips forward 30 seconds no matter how matter how many times I press it. I have to let it play after the 30 second skip before I can press the forward button again for another 30 seconds. Reaching the halfway mark of the video with MKV files is too tedious using this method. The only way I know of getting there is by using a USB mouse plugged into the XBMC box.

Is there another way that I'm not aware of via xbmcRemote?

Fine app, BTW.

Great. Looking forward to version 1.3.

Joethefox: You linked https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/2479 referring to work being done regarding the UTF-8 problem. Is there an open ticket I can track for this issue? Since this "only" seems to be the pull request for a change. I did search but it didn't turn up anything useful.

Great app!

Some off my suggestions in descending order:
-Being able to remove sections on front page, e.g. I don't use Pictures and Music.
-Add Videos to front page. I didn't even know you could control addons. I never thought about looking under TV-shows/Movies (I haven't really been using the app much).
-Add Favorites to front page or at least access to it from somewhere.
-Being able to edit text with the keyboard and not just replace the text.
-Paste text into the keyboard input.
-Editing the buttons for the remote control.
-More pages for the remote control.
-Cache/save movie/TV posters on the device. Though I'm using this on an iPod Touch 4G. Maybe the loading of posters isn't noticeable on newer iOS devices.

thanks for the awesome control (much better than apples remote IMHO)
does the iOS app keyboard also support the shortcuts? (http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Keyboard)
I try to get codec info (shortcut O) to display on my raspi which has no keyboard/mouse connected

Thanks
Tilo

Regarding the "O" key to see the codec info, you can long press the "i" button on the remote control view (button pad) to show the codec information dialog.

Unfortunately, currently the keyboard works as xbmc virtual keyboard, not as a full keyboard.

I'm possibly in a minority here as various searches are turning up blank.

I'm finding on iOS remote (Pad or Phone) controlling OSX or RPi installs with different skins the remote keyboard does not function. i.e. I press a key and no key strokes appear to arrive in XBMC. What is mean't by virtual keyboard, and perhaps more importantly anybody help me out as too why the keyboard function stubbornly refuses to work. All other remote functionality appears to be fine??

Please think of people that uses XBMC mostly for music playback Sad Some music features like seeing compilation albums are totally missed.

I want to thank you anyway for all the effort that you and your team put into making this great product. I just think it's too movie-oriented and it lacks some music features Sad

Is there any way to make a long press bring up the context menu (channel list). This is what I think a long press should be coded to do anyway but it just doesn't seem to work.

Thanks in advance.

Just wondering if there had been any more investigations into this issue at all? Thanks.

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - dr88dr88 - 2013-04-04

Hi Joethefox I now have live TV on my XBMC installation.
In the XBMC remote I need to go into the movie plugin and then to live TV to switch between channels.
It would like to request to move the live TV function to its own menu so its easier accessible.

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - iWhite - 2013-04-06

Hi everyone Smile I downloaded the XBMC Remote and I want to control my music with it, but I usually use the alphabetical order of the track title to search songs. When I tried to order my music by song title, I noticed that the music was ordered by track album name (but they were grouped for song title initial letter). How can I order the music library by song name? Thanks in advance

RE: [released] Official XBMC Remote for iOS - joethefox - 2013-04-08

@Muskusrat, The ignore article feature isn't an easy task due the fact even if I ask to XBMC the movies list with the ignore articles on, when the app have to put the items in letters sections, I loose the ignore article sort. The only solution I see is to replicate the logic for ignore articles inside the app.

@Talemann, make sure you have enabled under Settings > Services > Remote Control > Allow programs on other systems to control XBMC to be able to modify the virtual keyboard text.

@choyj, the progress bar is slide-able. Which version of app are you using and which version of XBMC are you using? and from which media source type you are unable to slide the progress bar?

@Syncopation, an opened ticket regarding the issue http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/13878

@asiuhas, thank you!

already in the TODO list

the milestone is to have access to the library sections directly from the main menu.

I guess there isn't yet the proper way on how to manage favorites via api

I tend to refuse this kind of customisation, which button/actions are you missing?
Quote:-Cache/save movie/TV posters on the device. Though I'm using this on an iPod Touch 4G. Maybe the loading of posters isn't noticeable on newer iOS devices.
thumbnails are already cached in the device disk

@Mistabowjangles, I'm sorry but I can guarantee only with the default confluence skin

@Faire, there isn't an API to retrieve the album compilations, what are the music feature that lacks? you have mentioned just one (that isn't available)

@jj0076, nope I haven't had the time yet

@dr88dr88, for the truth I'm waiting more APIs in the live tv section on the XBMC side before moving the live tv section outside.

@ iWhite, what music section of the app are you talking about? and which sort? there aren't sort options in the app. It isn't clear to me what is your issue.

No worries, thanks for the getting back to me!!

I was wondering if I might add to the previous members request for button customization.....I would really like to see an option to change the behaviour of of the big central circle button on the button pad remote, so that it becomes the pause/resume button when a movie/tv show is playing and reverts to a menu select button when out of full screen playback mode. Or alternatively I guess what I really need is a bigger pause/resume button!!! Thanks.
