RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - anxdpanic - 2019-01-21

@meNick
The link is still there as '...' as there is currently no active in development version, beta5 was bumped to 6.3.0 stable. Along with the link you provided you can find references to installation zips here: https://github.com/jdf76/plugin.video.youtube/wiki/Installation#in-development-versions

@bluenote
It has been mentioned, the root cause is currently unknown. A crash log/debug log (wiki) may help shed some light on the issue.

@MentalTrousers
It looks like you have Settings - Advanced - Support alternative player and Use YouTube web urls enabled. Disable those and if it's still an issue, will need a log with debugging enabled. debug log (wiki)

 You're a wonderful person!! Those have been set for years and I don't even know why they were. But changing those fixed things so I can watch most videos on YouTube again. Now, this one consistently crashes Kodi

@anxdpanic

0. I set my Youtube v6.3.0 beta3/beta5 to DASH live ON, VoD OFF and also manual stream selection with 720p max; with auto stream selection in input.adaptive.

What I get in IPTV Simple Client after pressing the tv channel is a full menu with a top mpd entry and other codecs (mostly h264 aac) 720p - 144p.

I am using plugin://plugin.video.youtube/play/?video_id=%video_id%

1. When I select auto under the general tab in YouTube plugin menu, I of course don't get a menu.

*In this case which codec, dash or other, is Youtube using? How is this choice decided?

Also selecting mpd gives me usually 480p and sometimes 720p.

2. When I use #0 setting with input.adaptive menu set to manual streams, I always get a low quality stream 144-240p, when I select mpd from the channel menu.

*Why is that?

3. How can I get DASH stream selection as well? As in #0, there is only one mpd menu entry for channel streaming.

What settings in input.adaptive and YouTube plugin?

4. Is there a way to have a channel streaming menu with only MPEG DASH, but no other codecs?

I ask because like for many folks here, beta3 to beta 5 consistently stream fine only with the single mpd option as above.
Other codecs cause freezing and audio loss still.

Thanks !

Getting this error when trying to play some videos:

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - eugeno - 2019-01-21

Hi

I have the following problem: very often (about every second video) videos get buffered, and the buffering lasts from a few seconds to even minutes. Then the video can continue, but after a few seconds the buffering begins again. Sometimes the video get stalled. Restarting the video usually helps.

I have a gigabit Ethernet connection, Internet download speed is 300 Mbps. While watching videos via Samsung TV app, everything is OK.

Logs:

The issue is very annoying, so I would appreciate any help.

 I think it may e a problem with banned addons only. If i install Extendedinfo script only and click info for a movie and watch the trailer it works fine, but on the other hand EI doesnt use Youtube addon as a dependency. Any ideas what addon i can test with that has a trailer option that uses the Youtube addon to play the trailer so i can get a clean logHuh

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - bluenote - 2019-01-22

One of my hard drives went for a crap last night so my library based box can't be booted up right now, so I can't compare to see if trailers acted differently between library and/or "some other addon".  But my impression is trailers have been borked for me on leia on library for a long time as it was.

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - Sobersally - 2019-01-22

I am a newbie and spent most of my night tonight on credentials for youtube. I got log error 401 that OAuth was not authorized so I went back to your tutorial and the part where it speaks about product name shown to users is not on the page I am on. It doesn't ask for that. It asks for the application name, application logo, scopes, etc but no product name. And I keep getting a 401 error. My project name is put in the id on kodi with the number after it and I cut and pasted the api's so they would be right but I keep getting the 401 error. Any advice? I apologize in advance if this has already been resolved. I cleared the cache also. It's very frustrating because I am not understanding why it works for everyone but me. I tried to also hit the button for Android, and it keeps reverting back to none. I don't know if that is the problem or not within my credentials.  Can anyone shed some light?
Thanks!

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - Sobersally - 2019-01-22

Here is my log file:
https://paste.kodi.tv/vowaneqoso
The error is in the middle of the page, because I reverted to non personal api to get youtube working again temporarily.

@Sobersally - as your device is stuffed full of banned addons (wiki) that violate our piracy policy (wiki) then support is not offered here for it. Please actually read the forum rules (wiki) that you obviously just blindly accepted without actually looking at when you signed up here.

The forum moderators have determined that banned addons (wiki) are present on your system. To receive assistance here, these banned items must be removed. If a clean log is not submitted within 3 days, then the relevant post(s) will be removed after this time.

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - Abbaskip - 2019-01-22

Youtube searches for me, but whenever I try to play the video I get a quick loading symbol then nothing plays and I'm back at the menu.
No idea what's change - I'm sure this was working until recently.

Assuming it's this that's causing the issue:
Code:
22:56:27.401 T:18536 ERROR: CDVDDemuxFFmpeg::Open - error probing input format, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=piLKAL9jgM8
22:56:27.401 T:18536 ERROR: CVideoPlayer::OpenDemuxStream - Error creating demuxer

Edit: I logged out and now it's working again. Logged back in and still working

RE: YouTube Plug-in Thread - Mr Dan - 2019-01-23

Hello, I Updated the ad on but since some days a strange thing occurred. Nota all videos are played. Some of them simply do not start. Sometimes an error "there was a issue control log file" appears.
I do not kwnow if it depends form the add on or some restriction applied by Youtube to videos. Videos affected are musical ones, specially.
Thanks.
