Nougat in this LibreELEC C2 case refers to the updated common Linux (Nougat) Kernel code used for both AMlogic Android and Linux / LibreELEC. Android devices actually use a Linux Kernel too.

Thanks,
maybe someone can report something about this release, what are the real benefits!

These tars are fully compatible with the official tars, right? So I can easily switch back!

Thanks,
WebEye
Yes they are all 64bit releases and all Upgrade / Downgrade / Sidegrade compatible with the 64bit Official LibreELEC releases.

If your worried do a .tar Backup and store that .tar file backup external from the C2:

Lightpack initial color display works and it boots normally, but when the video starts, the lights turn on and stick to just one color(no grabbing). I looked back at old threads, and it seems like something needed to be enabled in the kernel to get it to work in the past. Was this inadvertently turned off or incompatible with Krypron amcodec? If there is an issue with this not working now in new builds, what build should I use to get it working again?
(typie typie)

It never worked for me - how did you get boblight/lightpack working in the first place? Mine always powered on, did the colour sequence, but remained static thereafter (white).
It worked for me on the old 7.1 jarvis builds from wrxtasy. Since upgrading to Krypton it doesn't work. Definitely seems like a grabber issue as I know there were some changes for this in Krypton.

I hope we can get this working again!

Probably a dumb question but can I plug it in my PC (my video card has a HDMI port) so I can set up the skin/menus and all or do I need to do it via SSH?

Another question, they do have a Harmony One remote. Is there a thread somewhere that explains how to set up the Harmony to use it with the C2?
You can plug it into your monitor if it has a hdmi port, or your own TV.

RE: ODROID C2 S905 2GB RAM HDMI 2.0 $46 - wrxtasy - 2017-05-13

Harmony ONE remotes programmed as MCE media remotes will work out of the box with LibreELEC Kodi on the C2.
You can also program the Harmony's as a C1/C2 Harkernel IR remote and that will work too. OR custom program any spare IR remote you have lying around to work with Linux Lirc.

The harmony one is an older model, hence there must be used the old Harmony Software v 7.7.0. Easiest way would be to mimic the original Odroid C2 remote, so set it up like this:

Pros of this harmony profile:
  • Can power on/off via IR command (boot via IR even if it's powered off)
  • Works out of the box
  • Quite fast response times

Cons:
  • Very few buttons

There's also the possibility to choose Windows Media Center SE profile or so or any other. And then to programm the IR codes to your wishes according to wrxtasys guide here:
http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=210987&pid=2291663#pid2291663 [beginning from position 2.) ]

Though you will loose the PowerOn IR capability. Buuut.. this IR code can be added to any harmony profile that you chose by sending the harmony support an email and asking them kindly to add C2PowerOn command as a pronto code to the device(-profile) that you've already loaded into your harmony account:
Code:
0000 006C 0000 0022 015B 00AD 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0041 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 05F7
They usually add the code to the device you named within hours or max a day.

Thanks wrxtasy, I'll give option 2 a try when I get to their house.

Thanks infinity for all the infos but they are not rely tech savvy so I think even limited buttons should be enough.
As long as there's buttons for play/pause/stop and info as well as the directional cursors/enter they should be fine.
I can always modify the profile in the future if there are issues.

Sadly you are right, schimi passed away from a heart attack, last August at the age of 41 Sad

Any 17.2 special builds coming, or is it time to go back to the main stream of libreelec for the odroid?

Hello,

I am interested in the Odroid C2.

I have some questions:
- Is it possible to suspend?
- It could play 4K HDR films?

Kind regards.

C2 is based on S905. This doesn't have HDR support.

No AMLogic, including the S905x has HDR working properly when running LibreELEC or OSMC. Forget about it.

You have to use Android, and put up with no Auto Kodi 1080p <<-->> 4K Resolution switching then, as well as other Android OS and Android Kodi issues.

I am fed up with no name S905 boxes, so I might try this one. But, where do you get it for $46? I have searched on ebay and it is at least 80.

Its available right on the Hardkernel page for that price, keep in mind by the time you buy a power supply, some kind of storage, case, shipping, etc you wont be out the door for $46
