I believe it is also in Milhouse's latest x86 OpenELEC build.

Use settings/video/playback and change "Accelerated playback speed" from disabled to one of 110%, 120%, 130%, 140%, 150%.
Now when playing a video the first fastforward step will play with sped up audio.

it's also in these ubuntu ppa builds: https://launchpad.net/~wsnipex/+archive/ubuntu/xbmc-fernetmenta-master

Could you please consider implementing also slowed playback speed, i.e. 90%, 80%, 70%.
Shouldn't be too difficult now, but would be much appreciated by not mother-tongue people like me, when watching movies in original language.
Thank you

This feature would also be useful for people who love to watch movies, but are too cheap to buy the extended edition.

I wanted to try this, so I installed first the latest Milhouse Rpi2 build, and later build #1010, and I can't find this setting. I have looked in "settings/video/playback" and everywhere else I could think of, and I can't find an "Accelerated playback speed" setting, or anything that looks like it. I have advanced settings enabled. What am I doing wrong? Is there some other way I can turn this on?

This is a really important feature for me, it's the only missing feature which has been keeping me from using Kodi. I have an old PlayonHD Mini media player box which can do 1.5 and 2.0 fast forward with pitch adjusted sound, and every time I try some new media player, I end up going back to the MIni for this reason alone.

set settings level to expert, go to settings - video - playback

Thank you, that helped me find the setting.

I have now tried setting accelerated playback to 130% and later 140%, but when I select fast-forward the first speed it jumps to is 2.0. So even though accelerated playback is enabled, it is not used. Is there anything else I need to set?

Make sure omxplayer is disabled, "sync playback to display" is enabled, and passthough is disabled.

Hey guys,

first, thank you all for making this possible, I have been waiting for this feature for years!
Thank you for your great work and effort.
I am using the latest Milhouse for RPi2.
Just a small question:
If I use faster playback, I get chipmunk voices. It would be great to have normal audio tone like in VLC for faster playback speeds.
I think FernetMenta mentioned working on it a few posts above.
Is there already a solution or work in progress?

Thank you and have a great day Smile

Isn't this an odd spot to have the setting? Speeding up the video payback is something someone would normally want to do on a per-video basis, just like adjusting other video options while they're watching the video. Having it as an OSD setting option is also how other video players handle the feature.

Thank you so much for implementing this. I kept switching back to MythTV just because of the playback speed. We watch long livetv shows in 1.10x or 1.20x to shorten them :-)
Is there a windows build with this included?

Great work!!

His this been added to any Android build yet? I'd like to use it on my Android based TV.

Btw, adamsky is 100% correct. This should be an option available during playback not buried in the settings.
In fact I'd love to see it something that mapped to my remote... like the up/down arrows so it can be adjusted on the fly.

Was wondering if it was also possible to have setting to adjust the audio pitch (semitones) while video playing at normal speed?

Listening to music in different pitches is fun. Keep up great work Smile

video playback speed is not implemented yet?
