While I sort of am too, most mascots only appear 1 image to maintain brand recognition. Tux, Beastie, Puffy, Clarus, Hexley, SuSE chameleon and GNU Gnu all have one easily recognizable simple Mascot & view.

Ecksby is my favourite so far. XBMC buddy is a good design but I'm not sure I would dig the whole "anime" look for the long run.

I'd also like to see more work done on the sloth.

But Ecksby... it's good. Smile

sloth is nearly done Wink

Ok mine is looking so much inferior to some of the others. I think I will stick to watching movies Smile

Ok here goes the sloth:

Image

This particular variant goes on a white background, but there are a TON of colour combinations that suit the mascot, if there is the need I can provide more samples;
also the box can be taken off and have a completely transparent background with a good result.
I also tried some radiuses sprouting from behind the sloth, good as well, it all depends on your personal taste.
I think it would look good on a t-shirt too, I'll try that as soon as I have more time.
Eventually I can draw the sloth in a different position, so it peeks out of the T-shirt Tongue
Font is freeware too Smile

As always comments are welcome, talk soon

nice not sure I like brown though

Looks really good. I kind of wonder whether it would run into copyright issues with FOX though. Looks awfully similar to Sid from ice age.

I don't think it looks like Sid at all:

I like this one most. Looks very polished and professional.

The thing that Ecksby has over this one though is it fits into the logo. I'm thinking the logo + mascot should either be square or a long rectangle. Your's currently has too much whitespace imo.

My suggestion would be to have him laying across the top of the logo and using the top of the b as a headrest.

There're only so many ways you can characterture-ize a Sloth. IMHO grumpygamer

Finally decided to look at this thread. Great submissions so far, but at this point I think Ecksby might be the best. Especially the grayscale version with the logo. It just really pops.

As I said colour palettes can vary, I'll post more samples.

It's all about what you think a mascot is. In my idea a mascot is a character that will be associated with the logotype(the clearest example are kellog's mascots for their different cereal brands). If you google the word you'll see plenty of examples.

Ecksby looks more like a logo to me, not really a mascot.
This is my opinion, but HEY! There is still plenty of time for me to design a logo for xbmc, if that's what is wanted!

This is an IE mascot

seems it doesn't fit in the IE logo at all!

I agree. I guess it just depends on how it will be used. Would like to see more info in that regards.

Here's my Logo that originated from the concept of adapting the letters X B M C into a logo.
I Know the colors are quite familiar!!!Big Grin
