I also agree "Zapy" is fun and pretty fun looking for a mascot.

A few really cool submissions. But so far, Zapy's got my vote.

I've got an idea started that I'm really excited about. Looking forward to finishing it off to see what people think!

da-anda Wrote:First of, thanks (I guess), but I can't second that. The other contributions are just great and as "unique" as mine. I'm sure that someone somewhere in the world already had a similar idea (like the peacock contribution, which is a nice idea and well done btw) and did a similar drawing or will do so in future. That's life - we all are collecting impressions every day and combine them to something new. And because we nowadays share a lot of those impressions due to globally broadcasted TV shows, the internet etc. sometimes they look more ore less like ideas somebody else already had - that doesn't automatically make them a rip-off. You'll notice a real rip-off and from what I can say I haven't seen any in here so far.
Of course there are some submissions that reuse art from others, but as I see this, it's for them currently the only way to express their ideas - so what. In my eyes the idea and the fact that they contribute count in first place - redrawing/polishing can also be done later for those by one of the community members with according skills if needed.

Well-stated. Smile

Lots of great entries, but i think zappy is the winner so far. Good looking character that could be along side well known software mascots on packing in stores, or expos, etc.

Ok, here's my attempt at a mascot. I wanted something clean and simple. Not too cartoony, but slick and polished. I was inspired by an element taken directly from XBMC. I call him "Pozzy":

Image

The bonus is that he fits right at home with XBMC, as he typically resides as the "pause" button as part of the playback controls...

And here is Pozzy with the XBMC logo...
