Is themoviedb down or is it just my system? - Tight_wad - 2011-05-05

I have not been able to scrape with them, new or refresh for the last 2 days. Is there something wrong with all of my XBMC instances? I can't see how it is with them, not found any current posts about a problem.

Day 3 and still can't connect to them. I can used IMDB just fine though. Anyone have an idea what I can do to get it back working?

- Tight_wad - 2011-05-06

It is, or I should now say was my systems problem. All had auto updated to the lastest version of 1.4. I had to do the uninstall of themoviedb 1.4 which actually put it back to 1.2.4 version, and then do an update to 1.4 to get it to work again.

And I had to do this on all 4 (1 Windows vista 10.1 and 3 XBMClive 10.1).

No clue as to the why, but I find it hard to believe no one else has experience such a problem like this. And if it was just one of my instances, no problem, big deal, but all 4 having issues after being auto updated to 1.4 seems buggy to me.

Oh well, at least now if I have a similar issue, I won't need to ask about it.

I have the same problem... I cant connect to themoviedb. I cannot uninstall the plugin no matter what I try. That option is always greyed out. Even when I set content on my movie folders to use imdb instead (so it isnt in use) I will need to wait for an update.

The themoviedb was down last night for most of the evening. Once it came back up again, I still could not get it to work. I had to uninstall 1.4 again and use the 1.2.4 version.

The only way to get themoviedb scrape to uninstall is if there absolutely nothing using it. Then the uninstall should be selectable.

I would say that there is a bug in the 1.4 update since after adding my movies, I tried updating back to it, and got the same issue of "can't connect to remote server".

Hrmm, can you imagine how much ranting we would see all over the forums if there was a bug like that?

A debug log might help.
(just follow the link in your signature Cool)

i also cannot connect to themoviedb

here is my debug log: http://pastebin.com/4z8zhcu5

edit: i just enabled imdb and that works fine.

Did you guys uninstalled the youtube plugin which is required by tmdb scraper v1.4 and should have installed automatically on scraper update?

@kobenator
For you surely the missing youtube plugin is the issue

- kobenator - 2011-05-08

yep that was the issue.

there is no dependency check if tmdb needs youtube it should check and give info if missing.
Who the hell should know this without reading a debug...

I have allready the same issue but my youtube plugin was never uninstalled here must be a problem with the update process.

Please don't mix up issues, yours is different. Don't try to get attention by hijacking other threads! I am getting a little bit bored with your spamming attitude and I am not the only one...

...and there is a dependency check. When tmdb scraper getting updated to v1.4.0 it is installing automatically the youtube plugin. If it is missing then it must have uninstalled later after the scraper update.

You've been helped out several times already, but this will not continue if you are already smart enough to judge where the problem is!

olympia,

Great call on the youtube add-on. You were correct.

I had not known that it was needed for the 1.4 version and didn't personally want youtube, so yes I did delete it. That was my bad! I probably should have made a post asking why the youtube add-on was showing up on my system without my actually wanting the install.

Thank you for taking the time to help with this.

- olympia - 2011-05-08

No worries, I am glad you sorted this out.

ps. youtube plugin is needed to play the trailers scraped from tmdb (those are all youtube links).

- JAB_XBMC - 2011-05-30

I had this exact problem on a fresh install of XBMC 10.1 yesterday. I assure you that I did not uninstall the YouTube add-on, but it was not installed when I checked. However, once I manually added the YouTube add-on, my scraping problems went away.

- olympia - 2011-05-31

Youtube addon is getting installed with the tmdb scraper update automatically.
10.1 shipped with an older version of the scraper, that's why it is not installed right away in a new install.

...but automatic addon updates is enabled by default and when XBMC detects and install the updated tmdb scraper, it should install Youtube addon as a dependency as well. I've never heard any cases when it didn't happened.
