12 gig mkv file stream from mac to ATV2. - activate - 2011-05-16 I am starting a new thread because I think my question got buried amongst other. I am experiencing buffering issues with the following setup. This is the debug log http://pastebin.com/pn7Kfb3y ATV2 4.1, Dharma stable, smb share from mac, airport extreme 5ghz network. This is obtained whilst streaming a 12 gig file over wifi. It buffers every 20 seconds or so. Just would like to know if it indicates any issues or if it is just a case of wifi being inadequate. Then I can take the appropriate steps. Code: 00:46:36 T:123760640 M:122138624 DEBUG: ADDON: cpluff: 'Could not return information about unknown plug-in plugin.program.SABnzbd.' The console: Code: 14/05/11 7:08:17 PM com.apple.launchd[1] (com.memeo.WDMemeod[56895]) posix_spawnp("/Library/Application Support/Memeo/WD Anywhere Backup/Daemons/WDMemeod", ...): No such file or directory Thanks. - davilla - 2011-05-16 activate Wrote:I am starting a new thread because I think my question got buried amongst other. I tried looking for both of them. Returned negative, nothing found. Code: 14/05/11 7:08:27 PM com.apple.launchd[1] (com.memeo.WDMemeod[56896]) posix_spawnp("/Library/Application Support/Memeo/WD Anywhere Backup/Daemons/WDMemeod", ...): No such file or directory But its unclear where it is launching from. I searched for several strings such as memeo etc. without luck. ...whether it is private/var/temp/launchd/sock , it won't let me in there. - pecinko - 2011-05-17 I would repack that mkv to mp4 and try to play it from itunes to test wifi. - activate - 2011-05-17 pecinko Wrote:I would repack that mkv to mp4 and try to play it from itunes to test wifi. Yes, I could do that, but it doesn't resolve the issue in the log. What I am noticing, is that the code Code: 17/05/11 10:05:35 AM com.apple.launchd[1] (com.memeo.WDMemeod[86942]) posix_spawnp("/Library/Application Support/Memeo/WD Anywhere Backup/Daemons/WDMemeod", ...): No such file or directory is running continuously even when no file is being played on atv2. This is the Western Digital manager on the mac, not xbmc. I am not sure what it is looking for every few seconds but even if I resolve it, I don't know if it has any relation to the xbmc debug, the last few lines of which are: Code: 01:58:42 T:218464256 M:119767040 DEBUG: CPullupCorrection: detected pattern of length 1: 41708.33, frameduration: 41708.333333 - activate - 2011-05-17 Ok, I have eradicated the issue with WDMemeod, it seems to be an issue with Western Digital managers with the mac. I have uninstalled it for now. The buffering issue remains. Here is the upto date log. http://pastebin.com/Qtu0DHXm. I don't know if addon cpluff has anything to do with it. - activate - 2011-05-25 Ok, did some experimentation. Connected the mac via lan so everything ie the atv2 and the imac were on lan with the airport extreme. The issue of buffering persisted. Tailed the streaming on activity monitory. What I noticed was that the buffering occured at any time that data sent from the mac exceeded 2.5mbps. Killed any other unnecessary network processes, no difference. The only other clue was that within system memory on the mac, free was near none, Inactive memory was more than half of total. This was depsite ending all unecessary processes. Any ideas of why the data sent rate would peaking at 2.5mbps? - RosevilleHT - 2011-05-25 activate Wrote:Any ideas of why the data sent rate would peaking at 2.5mbps? If it makes you feel any better, I'm seeing the same type of stuttering issue, but under Windows 7 shares. I did a raw rip of Startrek (2009 - HD Audio) off Bluray, and my disk is showing a solid 10MB/s transfer rate... yet the ATV2 OSD shows that it's not hitting 100% cpu usage (~60%), nor filling up the memory buffer. Raw DVD rips with DTS are perfectly fine. I'd be satisfied knowing that the ATV2 simply couldn't handle the Bluray rips if it were showing the memory buffer capping out, or the CPU hitting 99%, but neither is happening. - activate - 2011-05-26 Yeah, I see. Trouble is when people do report of it working, often with same setup, or different shares (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=96958&page=12). ...and there are different issues. 1. Stuttering - this I can see is a known issue for the stable version playing 1080p. 2. Buffering - is somewhat unclear. Even when I have hard wired the mac and the atv2, through the router, buffering still exists. Hence, asking mac, "What are you doing? But you could be right Soldier on! |
