RE: DSPlayer (DirectShow Player for XBMC) Eden build available - vicmanpergar - 2012-10-11

i don't fully understand u... This is DSplayer (under a frodo build), and the other was DSplayer (under an Eden build). The quality is the same, when playing ur media with Dsplayer. Only differences depends of which filters u use, on this build and on the other.

RE: DSPlayer (DirectShow Player for XBMC) Eden build available - dlmh - 2012-10-12

I think he means if DSPlayer with EVR renderer is still better than the XBMC software renderer. I'd say yes since XBMC isn't about video-quality, it's about ease of use and features: they haven't done much if anything to the renderer.

RE: DSPlayer (DirectShow Player for XBMC) Eden build available - Bjur - 2012-10-15

Yes my question was regarding DSplayer with EVR vs. XBMC with it's own integrated software renderer.

I was hoping that the picture quality was on the level now as DSPlayer, so I could upgrade my installation. When using 0wings DSplayer eden release I random loose sound sometime, and have to restart machine to solve it.

It would be nice when they fix the missing subtitle, so I can upgrade my DSPlayer installation to the newest oneSmile

Any updates Roman?Wink

external subtitles might have been fixed, so let's wait for a build Smile
Thanks, guys, for the good news.

Is madvr still the route to go for best PQ or has there been any developments on that front?

Thanks.

I always prefer to think this is personal view, since everyone have different eyes, but yes, it seems most of the ppl find madvr the best. Unfortuntaly, we don't have it and it won't happen, in DsPlayer. Anyway i am very happy with Lav filters.

The updated build based on Frodo Aplpa 7 + DSPlayer: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/24356082/XBMCSetup-20121015-c7f74fe-dx.exe
The bug with no subtitles being displayed has been fixed.
More info in this post: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=106629&pid=1210002#pid1210002
I've done a cursory check and the build has no obvious show-stopping bugs.
Known bugs/limitations: DSPlayer does not support Internet streams (YouTube etc.). As a workaround you need to add the following string in < players > section of your playercorefactory.xml file:
Code:
<rule internetstream="true" protocols="http|https" player="dvdplayer"/>
More about playercorefactory.xml in XBMC Wiki: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=External_players

Again, thanks to Eduard_K and other people involved in DSPlayer branch development.

Thank u very much Roman.
What i'm completely unable is to make work the blurays ability to open menu or chapters, even when i have avsplitter
Sad
If anyone can light me...

RE: DSPlayer (DirectShow Player for XBMC) Eden build available - Yappa - 2012-10-16

I was very happy with the build of Oct, 9.
Embedded (anime) subs worked very well. I think actually even better than ever, since in the past certain complicated multiple layer subtitle fonts weren't displayed correctly.

Unfortunately, with today's version the problems seem to be back.

@Roman: Could you please reupload the earlier version, so that I can check whether or not I was just seeing things? Thanks.

Ah right, now that you mention it I remember all the "drama" with madvr. LAVFilters seems very good however, I tried those as well.

First, you need to install AVsplitter and let it register itself as a primary splitter for blu-rays (there's a checkbox in the installer). Second, you need to create proper filtersconfig.xml file (for bdmv) or to let dsplayer to use system filters. And third, you need to enable the respective setting in dsplayer options.

That is very strange, because, according to Euard_K, he forgot to include subtitle rendering part in dsplyaer in that build so subtitles did not work with any of the videos I tried. Maybe you played your videos in dvdplayer? Then any Frodo build for Win should work for you.
Anyway, I didn't keep that build as it was basically useless.
I'm not an anime fan myself, but I keep a couple of files just for testing purposes and subs seem to work OK.
Could you provide some samples to investigate this? Preferably with time-codes when those complex subs appear.

I think i did all u said, but i'm going to install this new build u drop for us here and will double check the steps.

Anyway, you can press O during playback to see what filters are used in dsplyayer. Those DirectShow filters are tricky thing, but I can confirm that blu-ray titles choice dialog in dsplayer works - with title duration info unlike in dvdplayer where it is almost useless without any info on titles.

BTW, if you watch blu-ray ISOs (not folders with bdmv), you need to add respective rules both in playercorefactory.xml and (optionaly, if you use custom configs, not system DS merits) mediasconfig.xml. ISOs are hardcoded to dvdplayer by default and selecting dsplayer as the default player do not work for them without some tweaking.

RE: DSPlayer (DirectShow Player for XBMC) Eden build available - vicmanpergar - 2012-10-16

No, i use folder type Blurays.
I'm adding rules for bdmv using avsource and avsplitter in mediasconfig, and will give it a try Big Grin

It seems it's working but only from video files, not from the media Library. I can access the streams with duration as u said (although the replaying is not smooth, don't know why). I can't make the menu work.
I will continue my investigation.

RE: DSPlayer (DirectShow Player for XBMC) Eden build available - Ed76 - 2012-10-16

short question: will the ds-player work with pvr live tv. i think i read some time ago that live tv will not work with dsplayer. is it right? is it theoretically possible that dsplayer will work in the future with live tv?
