If I try to watch a DVD (or a DVD *.iso file), then the DVD menu is corrupted: The menu text (e.g. "play", "language", etc) is missing. The cursor to select an item is accessible, but without text this is of little help. For some menus the text appears after 2 or 3 minutes delay, but this doesn't seem to be reliable.
Using a real DVD player the menus work fine right from the start.
This is xbmc snapshot 20110930 on Debian unstable amd64.
Any helpful comment would be highly appreciated.

From comments in the GIT repository I see there was some issue with missing text in recent builds. Try a build from a few days earlier than yours, or wait a day or two for this to be fixed.

Same problem with the snapshot of today.
It would be very nice to have some configure option to use the system dvdnav and dvdread libraries.

No it wouldn't. XBMC only uses built in codecs precisely to avoid problems with external codecs. The DVD text problem is a temporary issue, and this sort of problem is inevitable in development builds. That's why we don't recommend using development builds unless you're happy to deal with such problems.

That's why we don't recommend using development builds unless you're happy to deal with such problems.I understand that there might be problems with early xbmc 11 and that you would like to reduce external dependencise, but it seems that the dvdnav library included with xbmc has a problem. Trying a more recent dvdnav is a way to deal with this problem. I'd love to try and report the result, but xbmc's configure script doesn't support this approach.
