It works on OpenELEC at the moment (but odd things might happen when you play other files after the .ape) - but looks like a future update might stop it working ... and a future future update (that has not been worked out) would fix it properly.

external USB sound cards for xbmc on pi finally is here

http://forum.stmlabs.com/showthread.php?tid=1052

This uses the native paplayer (not just pretends to be paplayer) so every audio formats supported by xbmc should now plays on pi including ape etc.

As a bonus you can stream audio in and out of pi over wired/wifi network. Think xbmc on pi as a music hub. Paired it with xbmc remote app on your smart phone and portable wifi speakers like WR703N its a multi-room home music system come to true.

Very awesome use for a $25-35 device! You can even sync the playback via: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=134943

Pulseaudio should be able to take care of the sync issue Wink

Check this
http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PulseAudio/Documentation/User/Modules#module-combine-sink

and this

http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PulseAudio/Documentation/User/Modules#module-rtp-send

the pulse-monitor.sh script is included which uses module-tunnel-sink to send audio to a remote pulseaudio server. Listening to music streamed from pi located downstairs now. Big Grin

Hi

Just wanted to say that I read up on the "lagging mkv" discussion, and my personal experience with Raspberry Pi + OpenElec XMBC is that Samba (i.e. windows file sharing) mounted files stutter every 5 seconds when the size is around 6GB+, whereas NFS mounted files do not (I haven't found its limit yet, as I don't have any files in excess of 8GB).

Check http://wiki.wdlxtv.com/Sharing_from_Windows_7 for how to share NFS from Windows 7 (remember to start the config program as admin).

Hi,

My RasberryPi just arrived and I installed rasbmc. It installs perfectly but when I check the System Info the CPU usage is very high (around 80%) when nothing is playing back. Is this correct or have I done something silly with the setup? And thanks to Sam for the great distro, amazingly easy to get running.

My 720p and 1080p videos are also stuttering when playing back from a SMB share, but I believe that may be a problem under windows 7. I will try an NFS share from windows and other shares from Mac and Linux PCs.

Any other tips as to how I should set things up

I recieved my Raspberry pi yesterday and installed raspbmc. I'm very impressed about the performance this little device puts out. I'm glad I bought 2.

Hi guys
I am looking for some compile instructions. The ones I used few weeks ago (raspbian) seem pretty outdated or the current git is buggy (get a compile error after some time in a ~*filesystem*.pa) or both. Since I strangely got git updates in waves (passed days with activity suddenly appear after some time with no activity at all) I am quite sure my git pull is beeing fixed already (many thanks guys!). However I am looking for new instructions. As far as I see there are a lot of changes in ./configure for example...

Best regards
trigger

I want to get the Raspberry Pi so bad right now! But I have to wait until I move into my new place, which won't be until the 22nd of this month. But when I get it, I plan on installing Raspbmc on it and see how well it runs everything!
