Has development stopped? - touser - 2011-12-02

I'm just curious, it's been months since the last commit on github and i'm not able to use this remote at all on android 4.0 with pre-eden xbmc. Is this project dead? There don't seem to be any alternatives in the android store to this app Sad

I'm just throwing this out there:

Maybe the developers don't have access to a 4.0 Device ?

- freezy - 2011-12-02

It's not dead, it's just I'm 200% working on my day job right now which leaves very little time. I've received reports about 4.0 issues, and yes, we don't have access to a 4.0 device. I hope however that Cyanogen gives us 4.0 glory soon for the Nexus S. Will also try to reproduce in the emulator.

I appreciate the response guys, sorry if the question came across as hostile it wasn't meant to, i was just genuinely curious. Thank you for the fantastic work you do!

Really interested in seeing this happen as well. It's also a good sign that the XBMC for Android development wiki is now live: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Developing_XBMC_for_Android

I guess when Verizon releases the Galaxy Nexus in the next week or so, things should start ramping up. I also hope this gets Android support bumped up in the official roadmap, as it's now at the bottom of the list (Two years away!!) http://trac.xbmc.org/roadmap

Awesome work guys!

Great app, looking forward to the ICS fixes whenever you get a chance.

Can any of you Galaxy Nexus users post a crash log? I'm running ICS on my Nexus S now, but I can't reproduce the problem. Seems a Galaxy Nexus specific problem...

- htpc guy - 2011-12-06

I'm using an HTC Thunderbolt, rooted with MIUI ICS Adroid 4.0.1. I'm not having any issues.

Can anyone with a Galaxy Nexus check if this build works?

Sorry that link didn't work, is this the file you were linking? http://android-xbmcremote.googlecode.com/files/XBMC_Remote_v0.8.7-r2_signed.apk

Assuming yes i just tried it on my galaxy nexus and still get the NullPointerException when attempting to connect to pre-eden xbmc. The app never actually crashes it just throws that error constantly (the arrow keys do work though i can control xbmc with it, there's just a constant pop-up and the library features don't show up.) I'm not sure how to grab any kind of debug log, if you could link me to instructions on how to do that i'm more than happy to help test.

- psmorgan - 2011-12-08

The NullPointerException isn't limited to just a Galaxy Nexus.
ICS running on my Galaxy S also causes this issue.

Here's the logcat for when the exception occurs:

same here. installed r2-beta1 and am still experiencing the issue. xbmc app seems to be working though as pressing "power on" does wake up my HTPC it just throws the nullpointerexception message once the app recognized that my xbmc is online. any idea what this is?

Hi mate, sorry for the late reply.

You can get the pre-CM9 ICS build for the Galaxy S 1 from the XDA forums here:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19713125#post19713125

Once the build is stable they'll be adding CyanogenMod features to it.

As for the Galaxy S 2.. I don't believe there is any unofficial release yet since it's getting the update either way (whilst the Galaxy S 1 isn't) so no one has bothered to port it yet.
