@fritsch
NOTICE: Closing audio device

is the last line in the log. Does not mean too much at this stage but you may want to have a look.

http://paste.ubuntu.com/5619857/ should be the debug log
http://paste.ubuntu.com/5619866/ is the crashlog from the same instace i think.

I play and stop play and stop play and stop a few times then it gives this crash and restart.

It's the logger thread which throws the exception. I think this is caused by some python script or UPnP. Please disable all addons and UPnP and run your test cases. Then enable the addons one by one.

AW: Howto Install XBMC PVR Xvba for AMD/Nvidia/Intel GPUs - Jan0sh - 2013-03-16

Debug log this time xbmc hangs after pressing skip/ maybe because of no other item in playlist. I have reported this bug before and am really shure it was already fixed:
Debug log:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/5620698/

And this one is as described above when stopping a playback xbmc restarts and one can see the X cursor for a short time:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/5620712/
(May be this one is even better : http://paste.ubuntu.com/5620730/)
This was done on with upnp disabled.

For those with Ubuntu Raring or another version with non working fglrx driver available, there is a newer 13.3 beta driver which should fix the vertical blank sync issue (i did not have any chance to try yet):

http://www2.ati.com/drivers/beta/amd-driver-installer-catalyst-13.3-beta2-linux-x86.x86_64.zip

This one is still affected - don't use it!

Same here, it dies in logger. There's a lot of python activity. Could you disable you addons and try to reproduce. Once negative, start enabling addons one by one in order to find the culprit.

AW: Howto Install XBMC PVR Xvba for AMD/Nvidia/Intel GPUs - Jan0sh - 2013-03-17

I think it may be one that ships with aeon nox skin. Will try to reproduce on confluence.

RE: Howto Install XBMC PVR Xvba for AMD/Nvidia/Intel GPUs - laric - 2013-03-17

I am also using aeon nox. Could be that is the problem. Will switch to confluence and test there

Hi all,

I have to start this post thanking wsnipex, guilmxm, Bram77, and all the others who have help the community in this question of AMD APUs in linux. I'm a newcomer to linux world, so all this is hard for me, but I'm making a big effort and investing a lot of time to learn and improve my knowledge and skills.

I'm posting since after a lot of hours and days working on it, I'm really desesperated and don't know how to go on, so I ask advice to all the gurus in this forum.

What do I want

I'm using Linux mint 14 cinnamon on an AMD Zacate/Ontario system, and I want to have XBMC installed for use it as HTPC, but I also want to maintain que complete S.O. so I can use the computer for internet browsing, torrent download, libreoffice and other tasks.

¿What have I done?

I've been during days and days working on it, I've try the wsnipex reccomendations, and then the ones of guilmxm. In all cases I have a problem running one of the terminal's task or video is not correctly played once installed (I've try all the radeon versions, automatically, 12.10, 12,09, and the rest.)

What's the problem?

Using the Bram77 script XBMC works ok, and all videos goes ok, but something weird happends:

-When I install all with the script and I restart, on first boot when I exit XBMC system hangs and I have to reset via reset button. On later boots everything works fine.

The question is that I don't want XBMC to "capture" the system, I want computer to book on Linux desktop and be able to use other applications, that is, having XBMC as another application.

So I remove from script the selectXbmcStartupMethod function and I get Linux + XBMC, but then, after the first boot I menctioned when system hangs on xbmc exit, I have problems with some videos (around 20%-30 mkvs tested).

All videos works fine on first boot after installation, but when trying to exit XBMC and system hangs, on later exits of xbmc it does't happend, but then I have the problem with the videos.

It's really weird, sometimes after system hang and restart, videos works ok and xbmc exit succesfully, but on second or third XBMC problem with videos appears.

Could be some Linux Mint 14 resident program cause the problemHuh I think that since when installing complete script and only have the XBMC (not linux desktop and programs) it works OK, but I need complete system.

This is the problem with videos:

I really would thank advices and help.

Thanks

since cinnamon is a compositing window manager, its know to cause problem with xbmc. See if can can turn compositing off somehow(in unity/compiz its called unredirect fullscreen).

in any case, start by posting a debug log.

Many many many thanks for the answer!

As I said I'm starting now in Linux, so I'm a newbie, how can I make a debug log?? I know nothing about it..... sorry

I'll look for information about disabling compositing (no idea xD). If I would do, what would this affect on?? Desktop would work worse or something like this?.

If I couldn't disable this then I was forced to change Linux Mint 14 Cinnamon for another system, would you reccomend some distro with applications installed by default that works ok with XBMC?

Many thanks
