ATV2 sees Mac but not shared folders - crismemo - 2012-01-15
I recently re-jailbroke my ATV2 as I previously had an old Jailbreak version. When trying to Add Videos and choose the zeroconf option for AFP, I see the name of my Mac on the network, but when I try to select to go into folders, nothing happens. I had this issue before, but updating to latest nightly build solved this. I'm so damned frustrated I could smash the whole lot now.
I have the latest Jailbreak version and updates for everything as far as I know (Macbook, ATV2, XBMC, iTunes) and I have setup the Sharing options for read access for everyone for the relevant folders, using AFP option only. This setup is the same as I always had when using the previous Jailbreak, so nothing has changed here.
Info:
XBMC v11.0.0 Eden version
ATV2 software 4.4.4 (3330)
Static IP addresses on ATV2 and Macbook
ATV2 connected to router via Ethernet, not wifi
Macbook connected to network via wifi
When using iTunes on ATV2 everything works fine and t sees my music stored on the Macbook, so I know the connection works between ATV2 and Macbook in principle, just not XBMC.

Thanks for the reply, however I cannot even access the log file. I try with Cyberduck and it states Connection refused, then trying with Terminal, frontrow password is denied. An ideas?

You need debugging turned on, and post the log on pastebin.com and link to it, rather than pasting it in a post.
EDIT: seems the current log might have the info we need (maybe?): LIBAFPCLIENT: Could not pick a matching UAM.
Just remember that link for the next time you need to post a debug log. As far as what that actually means.. no idea. Memphiz will probably have an answer when he sees this.

I'll try and remember to ask Memphiz about this the next time I see him. I tried searching around for what an UAM error could mean, and it sounds like either something that's within AFPclientlib itself or how it's built, but that kind of stuff is a bit over my head (slowly learning, kinda).

No ... it means that it trys to auth with anonymous (a.k.a. everyone) access and the server doesn't support it. This happens when the AFP share isn't configured in the right way. Two solutions imho:
1. On the mac grant the right permissions to everyone
2. Or on the ATV2 provide username and password to the afp share.

Thanks however it still does not work.
"Everyone" has read and write access to the folder, I also set up new folders to test, same result.
How do I save the username and password on ATV for the AFP share? I do not see a prompt or setting anywhere in XBMC to save these credentials.
I also tried enabling SMB sharing on my Mac, then I see a new source on ATV under zeroconf:// option called my MacBook Pro (SAMBA) - when I try to select the source, nothing happens. Also when I try choosing the SBM option, error shows Error 2: Share not available. I just don't get this. It was working fine until suddenly this issue ocurred. After re-jailbreaking the ATV the same problem exists, so it looks like something on my Mac, but I don't recall changing any settings anywehere for it to suddenly choose not to allow me to browse into these media sources.
Thanks for any help... I do feel that it's only a matter of time before my ATV goes out the window, but hopefully I can sort this before I totally lose control!

Do you have another computer or device you can test network sharing with? This might tell us if it's the ATV2 that's having connection problems, or the hosting Mac.

I happen to have exactly the same problem. ZeroConfigBrowser sees my Mac, but cannot connect. In OSX folder is shared with everyone without restrictions. I tried and tried and for a short time it worked - now not anymore.

Sorry, I forgot to say that I don't have a second mac so that I can test it with - and I guess testing it with windows is a different thing because it is not AFP?!
Hmm, but apart from that: exactly the same issue as described by crismemo - sometimes it works when exiting XBMC and trying to reconnect, its not working anymore...
