I upgraded my xbmc to frodo RC3 and now the addon do not work anymore. I boot the htpc and it looks like the addon do not send the WOL signal.
In the previous version (frodo betas, RC1) it all worked fine.

i assume, that this line could be the cause of your problem:
the video library database, which seems to be located at 192.168.0.195 could not be accessed. is 192.168.0.195 your server? if yes, then my interpretation would be: XBMC launches, tries to access the video-database, can't do that, because it is located on the server, and any further startup is halted, even before AWOL is started by XBMC as a service. when the server is up, XBMC continues it's launch process including the starting of AWOL, which only then sends the WOL-signal.Code:ERROR: Unable to open database: MyVideos75 [2003](Can't connect to MySQL server on '192.168.0.195' (60))

You are EXACTLY right. The server is set to standby, and because XBMC cant seem to connect it never fully loads, and thus AWOL is not running.
However,
Not that long ago, before I upgraded and had a play with some different things. AWOL was working perfectly in this setting.
The server was asleep. I would open XBMC, AWOL would SEND a magic packet. XBMC would continue to hang and then once the server was woken by the sent packet XBMC would finish loading and all be well. It worked perfectly.
If the server was OFF then it would not work and XBMC would hang for ever (unless I turned server on). But it ALWAYS would send the magic packet. XBMC would not block it from running just because it couldnt connect to the server.
So im not sure why or what has made this change. I really dont want to have to downgrade all my setup to Eden as it means remaking the MYSQL setup etc. But I guess if I have to then I will. But as far as I remember everything was exactly the same. I just cant remember what the last build was that it was working on. A Frodo or Eden build. hmm

my guess would be, that XBMC devs have changed the booting sequence, so that the MYSQL-server is contacted before AWOL (and presumably other service-addons) are started. since i cannot really influence what XBMC is doing during launch, and when it starts the AWOL-script, i cannot really help you with this problem. sorry.

I just installed this add-on and have a question if I may,
"PLEASE NOTE: It seems, that the hostup-check via ping only works, when XBMC is run with root- (on Linux) or administrator- (on Windows) -rights. You will get an error message, if this is not the case. As an alternative, you can You can disable the hostup-check via ping in the Addon's "Advanced Settings", and instead set a timespan, after which the addon should assume, that the server has awoken."
My HP Microserver takes 1 minute 25 seconds to resume from hibernation, I can only select 60 or 120 seconds in the add-on settings can I change this some how?
Also not directly related but I just setup MySql on the server following this guide here for central bookmarks, watched / unwatched status etc, this is working. But I have just noticed on my Linux HTPC running XBMC Frodo, that if the WHS 2011 server is in hibernation, the Linux HTPC on boot up gets stuck on the XBMC Frodo logo and does not open the XBMC GUI.
This does not happen if the WHS 2011 server is already up and running, any tips regarding this?
What I was hoping would be the case is say the WHS server is in hibernation, I then turn on an XBMC PC, it loads in to XBMC, the WOL add-in sends a packet to wake up the WHS, I wait a minute or so and can then continue and start playing content. This does not happen, as XBMC doesnt even load in to the GUI if it can't see the MySql server. What would you recommend ?

I let XBMC sit on its loading screen for about a minute, then at 16:10 I sent a magic packet manually from my phone to wake the server. It then procedded to load XBMC once the server was on.
Looking at the logs, AWOL sent the Wake on Lan packet once XBMC has booted. Which was after I sent it manually. So it looks likeXBMC is completly hanging everything until it can connect to the server?
This sounds like the same problem I have just discovered. Did you find a work around ?

Same problem here I think,
ATV2 Running Eden
mysql server hosted on hp microserver,
microserver running openmediavault,
I can wake it successfully by sending a magic packet from my phone or other machines on the network.
However eden hangs when i launch it from the atv2, if its not already awake.
It seems the AWOL script never gets to run if xbmc can't connect to the mysql db when it's launched.
I think It will eventually launch by using a local db.. but it takes forever

so next question, is it possible to get it to run when xbmc is launched?

i already had my server up and running,
started XBMC and it activates the WOL and there's a short library scan but it doesn't see my new added files.
when i force/manually do a update library it does find the newly added stuff

I have this addon to wake my server on startup (always works fine) and then scan the video and music libraries. When it scans these does it send extra individual Wake commands before each scan?
The reason I ask is because since installing Aeon Nox i get repeated commands being sent and have put it down to the above setting. It can't be the skin causing this can it?

No I haven't. Sorry. But it DID use to work 100% every time. But I think that's before I did all upgrading so it must have been Eden?

It never did that previously. Just when XBMC starts.
