Which Case with including IR/Remote works with XBMC without any big issues ?
i got a Moneual Moncaso 320 and the build in IR doesn't work with XBMC same with the display.
so i wonder which ones do

I recently bought the MS-Tech MC-1200AN case and am still playing around with it.
Its running OpenELEC currently.
Power On the computer works. But the remote has some problems in XBMC. Some keys are working, others arent. Im still trying to figure out how to fix it.

If everything failes, I gonna buy another USB IR-Receiver. Then the one of the case powers on the pc, the other controls it. In the end, I will do everything with my Harmony. But I hope thats not requried... Confused

Is it better to just get FLIRC rather than deal with the remotes and IRs thave come with cases? I got a wesena case and having issues with the IR receiver and thinking of just getting FLIRC. http://www.flirc.tv/ Thoughts?

I couldn't agree with FLIRC more. I have been using it for months, works like a dream. I do have to admit though that I like the clean lines of a built in....

Here's my set-up.

IR Receiver:

Internal USB Header:

Since the motherboard has an IR header it can be turned on and off using the Harmony. Motherboards without the IR header can only be put to sleep and back not turned on again when it's fully shut down. I also used the Internal USB header so I can just plug it in from the inside instead of the front. Also instead of the receiver that comes with the motherboard I used the one in the link. What I did was route the IR receiver from behind my HTPC to my TV stand so that it's barely noticeable. I'll post pictures once I have everything set-up.

My ML02 works nearly flawless... Has a small bug/glitch where the lcd stays lit once in a while during sleep. But the sleep and wake functions always works perfect. I changed over to an MCE remote (followed one of the posts in the forum a couple of years ago), and still no issues.

i have the same LCD screen, iMON, and my screen always turns OFF on sleep...
make sure u always update to latest version of iMON manager...

but my Hate towards that LCD screen is still here...
the mapping software just doesnt cut it....
try to map an Harmony remote to work with it like i did,,,
you'll see what im talking about LoL

Haha. How embarrassing. The remote of the MS-Tech MC-1200AN case works great.
It has a mouse button. And if you press that one, the keys will be registered on another device inside linux.
In other works, press the mouse button again and it works!
Except the 4 color button. It seems they are not registered at all. Will investigate some more.

Maybe a stupid question but what about the xtreamer ultra (version 1 or 2).

They are advertising with the feature to turn the ultra on / off using remote control.

I do not have one and can only write what I read on their website and on the forum.

EDIT: Just saw that the question was about case, not pre-built htpc. Sorry!

You dont use http://asrock.com/mb/spec/card.asp?Model=Smart%20Remote, right?

Why do you use internal USB header? Dont you have USB in back of case?

What do you do with IR header? Do you connect it with something?

on some ASROCK motherboards,
like the AMD APU FM1 socket'ed mini-ITX one i link to in my HTPC guide,
has a feature in its BIOS that once turned on,
it'll allow users to powerON from complete OFF state using a Remote.
and this feature is not to be confused with the CIR feature....
but yeah, both features allow this powerON thing your looking for....
