[RELEASE] Vice.com - paddycarey - 2012-03-23 I've made an addon to browse and display videos from Vice.com. It's pretty straightforward, just install and run, no setup required. This addon is Eden only Github: https://github.com/paddycarey/plugin.video.vice Download: https://github.com/downloads/paddycarey/plugin.video.vice/plugin.video.vice-0.3.zip Any questions just ask Changelog: 0.3 - Added dialog before playing segment - Various cleanup 0.2 - Added subtitle support - Better multipart detection 0.1 - Initial release Screenshots: RE: [RELEASE] Vice.com - wilson.joe - 2012-03-23 going to give it a go right now.. EDIT: Works great nice job. Good to see another video plugin. Using Linux, XBMC live on a minimal Ubuntu. It works for me but you're never sure until someone else tries Provided nothing crops up i'll submit it to the official repo soon. RE: [RELEASE] Vice.com - maruchan - 2012-03-23 Nice! It seems to have issues with some Vice videos (Vice Guide to the Balkans, The Jesus of Siberia.) Great to see a working Vice addon again RE: [RELEASE] Vice.com - paddycarey - 2012-03-23 Just tried those videos and they load fine for me though they do take a long time the first time. I'd looked around and seen reference to a VBS addon in your thread but couldn't find it. RE: [RELEASE] Vice.com - maruchan - 2012-03-23 It does seem to work fine on the ATV2. On OSX, it gives me an error. Great work nonetheless, my VBS plugin broke a long time ago and it's nice to be able to watch the content again. Any chance for captions/subtitle support? Strange, can you get me a log on OSX when you have time and I'll look into it? (2012-03-23, 02:55)maruchan Wrote: Any chance for captions/subtitle support? I'll look into it although i'm not really sure where to start with subs, I never use them. RE: [RELEASE] Vice.com - Zeee1 - 2012-03-23 Paddycarey, all I have to say is wow. I have been wanting this plug in for a long time. Thank you for all your hard work. Zeee1 RE: [RELEASE] Vice.com - paddycarey - 2012-03-23 So I've managed to extract the subs which seem to be in dxfp format like so: http://pastebin.com/1eB9XHZ1 But I've no idea where to start and how to push these subs to xbmc [EDIT] Figured out how but i just need to figure out a way to convert the subs into a format that xbmc will understand now RE: [RELEASE] Vice.com - maruchan - 2012-03-23 Something like this should work: http://pastebin.com/Hmh2Hd2W RE: [RELEASE] Vice.com - paddycarey - 2012-03-24 (2012-03-23, 21:53)maruchan Wrote: Something like this should work: Thanks! That worked great Just pushed some changes to github which should hopefully enable caption support. 1. It's not optional yet 2. The new play mechanism is a bit buggy. It'll take a while to fix these bugs but any brave testers can update to git HEAD now and give it a go RE: [RELEASE] Vice.com - paddycarey - 2012-03-24 Just posted a new zip in the first post with subtitle support if anyone wants to test RE: [RELEASE] Vice.com - paddycarey - 2012-03-24 And another new zip, hopefully this time this one'll be good enough for a repo pull provided nothing crops up. Any issues let me know. Subtitle support should be more robust now, and the plugin should give better feedback as to what it's doing when loading. https://github.com/downloads/paddycarey/plugin.video.vice/plugin.video.vice-0.3.zip RE: [RELEASE] Vice.com - werz - 2012-03-26 First of all, thank you very much for this addon, I've been longing for this. Some of my thoughts: * There's always a "Next Page" even if it doesn't load anything new. * There's no "Previous Page" (I know you can use the "..", but for me they are associated with going to the parent folder) * For the the episode below (http://www.vice.com/en_se/hamiltons-pharmacopeia/the-sapo-diaries-episode-1-1) it doesn't start part 2 - can't find it either. * The quality differs quite a bit. XBMC: Vice.com: Thanks again and I'm looking forward to your updates. That was fixed in Git if you want to update. The problem is that Vice has no standard naming scheme for parts of videos so it's hard to detect and find the next parts without a lot of brute-forcing or adding code for special cases. This is because I'm using the IPad mp4 stream as it's pretty simple to extract from their HTML5 player, if you know of a way to extract the higher quality rtmp streams from the flash player then patches are very welcome.
