I need help adding a new HTTPS network location - jwah - 2012-04-02

Hey there,

I'm trying to add a webserver to my xbmc to stream from but i'm having trouble getting XBMC to recognize it.

There is a user name and password to access the webserver.

Heres what i do:
Videos > Files > Add videos > Browse > Add network location

protocol: Web server directory (HTTPS)
Server address: <username>:<password>@<server url>.me:<port>/media
From there, I've tried every combination of adding port to the next field, adding my user name and password, putting 'media' or '/media' in the remote path field.

Does anyone know exactly how to do this? It keeps telling me that XBMC cannot find the network location even though it works when i type in the url in my browser. And ive also gotten this to work before on a past computer but i forgot exactly what i did...

Thanks,
JWah

Just directly enter the full URL in the "path field", instead of browsing for it...

I've just tried that, and it keeps telling me the network isn't connected when the server works just fine as i type it into a web browser. I think it has something to do with needing a login and password, which i have...
For reference, this is the website
https://ssas.me:8443/media

Thanks for replying also!

Try using port 443 for HTTPS and add the /media to the url, not the port.

Well the thing is, in order to even access the server just on a browser I need to type in :8443...But I also tried what you said and it still says it cant find the server
Also, https://ssas.me/media doesn't exist

You probably need to fill in https://user:[email protected]:8443/media/ then...
