I answered my own question here: https://blogs.dropbox.com/developers/2017/09/api-v1-shutdown-details/

Is this addon still being updated @robweber

Dropbox not working anymore - Rossoreed - 2017-10-21

It would be great if this could be updated to Dropbox api v2.
Uploading backups to dropbox is a great facility, and sadly missed...

RE: [Release] Backup (formerly XBMC Backup) - robweber - 2017-11-08

I'm currently working my way through the issues on Github. I haven't abandoned this addon but real world work is keeping things interesting at the moment.

For those interested in Google Drive and Dropbox functionality I think I have those issues sorted out. Google Drive was actually dependent on another addon (oauth2client) that needed updating. I have a pull request to the repo for that. Dropbox I have updated to their v2 SDK. Please see https://github.com/robweber/xbmcbackup/issues/114 for information if you want to test it. I haven't pushed it to master yet as I'm trying to clean up some other things as well.

RE: Problem with Backup addon - Klojum - 2017-11-18

That is unfortunately not the way to present a debug log (wiki) file.
Please submit the full kodi.log file via pastebin.com or paste.ubuntu.com .

RE: Problem with Backup addon - tetsuo00 - 2017-11-18

RE: Problem with Backup addon - Karellen - 2017-11-18

@tetsuo00

You have not enabled debug mode in Settings>System Settings>Logging. Please try again. Make sure you capture your problem in the log, if you don't then there is nothing to see.

RE: [Release] Backup (formerly XBMC Backup) - Mount81 - 2017-11-26

Hello!

I have used KODI 16.1 with the Confluence skin since and now I've made a full Backup with this add-on. Then I've got KODI 17.6 with Estuary mod skin (and with a couple of preinstalled add-ons) that came with my Boxs latest custom firmware. I have tried to restore the 16.1 Backup with the add-on, but was just half success. It restored my SMB share folders, but none of the Library (Posters, Fanarts) database. So all of these relevant pictures are now completely missing, while browsing the Video content folders. Sad

I have found here: https://github.com/robweber/xbmcbackup/wiki/FAQ-> that this Backup Restore is not working as it should between different KODI versions. There is a solution described, to delete the newest Database folder manually, but I'm a bit afraid if it would mess up other thing is KODI 17.6.  And the stranger is, that I have read on another forum, that some users could successfully Restore their Backup from 16.1 to 17.x.

Is there any other workaround or tipp/fix/settings to get this issue solved with the Backup? Has it to do some "incompatibility" or settings with the Estuary mod skin? Huh If I would switch to the "old" Confluence skin, and than retry the Restore method, would it make any difference?

Thanks for the replies!

Is it that the entire library didn't get copied over or just the fanart? Sometimes deleting the Textures.db file will fix things by forcing Kodi to recreate the textures database. Delete the file when Kodi isn't running and then when you restart it will create it.

Also - as an update to anyone having issues with Dropbox and Google Drive. I've had to submit some fixes to dependent addons to the Kodi repo. Once those are approved I'll be able to merge in the Backup addon changes. I can't do this until the dependencies are available.

 Hello!

1. I have managed to make some progress by this method: Deleted the preinstalled KODI, than installed KODI 16.1 manually, restored my backup and than updated to KODI 17.6 from the PlayStore. I have got all my important things and the posters/fanarts back. Do you think this is a good way to update and restore the backup, or can it cause some other incompatibilities?

2. Cause I have installed the repository.guilouz-1.0.3.zip to get the Estuary mod Skin (and a bunch of other add-on, that are required for the skin to work), and after it I had some GUI slow down problems and some elements, like posters and fanarts vanished again from my library. But I don't know for sure whether if the Backup Restore method caused it or this Estuary mod (and/or those other add-ons that i have to install). ?!

Is it a good idea to repeat again the whole process in point 1. and forget about point 2. in this case?

Hi @robweber I just have a question about ADDONS on a restore and the fact that they don't get enabled by default.
Surely if you copy the addonsXX.db file over then they would all be enabled, correct?
Maybe only a problem arrises if you are backing up and restoring to a different OS?
