RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - Karellen - 2018-01-21

Hello and thanks iMak,

I was trying to imply that when I typed in Kung Fury, I did not get a hit. It did not evens show in the top 30 results of "Exact Matches". I eventually found Kung Fury II and then found Kung Fury via "Connections".

So there is most likely nothing wrong with the scraper, it is just a difficult title. People need to understand that scrapers are not 100% foolproof and accurate. There will be a requirement for human intervention at times. So in the time it took to come on here, complain about not scraping properly, a member could have just created a parsing nfo in about a quarter of the time. People also need to remember that they have probably scraped hundreds of titles no problems, but feel compelled to report when one movie goes wrong.

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - olympia - 2018-01-21

#1 it's a "short" movie; to have the scraper find shorts, you need to enable it in UMS scraper settings. The scraper will find the movie then, but this will dramatically reduce the search accuracy during automatic scraping
#2 the workaround, suggested by Karellen, matching the movie with a parsing nfo will work perfectly. Any reason you did not even try?

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - shucknet - 2018-01-21

Thanks for the help guys.  I have a large library with a lot of other shorts in it and most of those identify just fine, that's why I mention this one.  I was able to find it on IMDB with a simple "Kung Fury 2015" search, so I thought there might be something missing in the scraper based on something specific about it.  It returns a ton of Kung Fu, but no Kung Fury.  I'll make an nfo file for it (it's not much work) just trying to help improve if there happened to be something wrong with the scraper.

On an unrelated note, how do you guys get IMAX movies to scrape properly?  None of mine with the standard "IMAX" in the front of the title scrape properly.

Thanks again for the help!

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - Karellen - 2018-01-21

The issue with that is that IMAX is the production company, not the movie/documentary title. It would be similar to scraping Lionsgate- The Hunger Games (2012). You can imagine the scraper searching for Lionsgate, even though that appears nowhere in the title of the actual movie. Even try searching IMAX in the IMDB search box. Nothing relevant is returned.

They just need to be named in accordance with what is listed at the site. I think you are using IMDB so, as an example, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116811/?ref_=fn_tt_tt_3 does not have IMAX anywhere in the title.

Just remember it needs to be named the same as the website.

You can always rename the Title after you scrape, if you prefer the IMAX prefix. Just highlight the movie, Context Menu>Manage>Edit Title and add IMAX to the title. Smile

I have another method for shorts, obscure and other stuff hard to scrape; I make my folder structure for these items like this:

Movies/Kung Fury (2015)/tt3472226/Kung.Fury.2015.1080p.mkv

Always works, and I don't have to turn on the Include All Movie Categories setting.
Prerequisites: on source settings turn on the Separate Folders and Scan Recursively settings, and of course having all the movies in that source in separate folders.

Hmmm, interesting. I was not aware this would work.

@olympia is that a feature or a co-incidence that it works?

Haha, non and it's indeed works since imdb search engine can match the movie based on imdb id, that's the reason. If you try to search by imdb id on the web, you will see.

Putting the movie in a folder named by the imdb id and use the folder name for the search input obviously makes this work in all cases.

But hey, an nfo file to me is cleaner than this, but if this is closer to someone's taste, this will work reliably.

Thanks olympia

So, in this case there are two movie titles- The actual movie title, then a subfolder named with IMDB ID. Does this mean the scraper will always prefer the IMDB ID?

Yes, I prefer the nfo solution also, but nice to know this works also. ( thanks @host505 )

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - host505 - 2018-01-22

If you have "Separate folders" and "Scan recursively" settings enabled on the source's settings, it will always lookup the name of the folder that contains the video file, no matter how far inside the folder structure that is.
Eg one of my sources is like this:

Movies 4\Short Films\Nacho Cerda - La Trilogie de la Mort\Aftermath (1994)\tt0159241\Aftermath 1994.mkv

The rest movies of that same source are Movies 4\Title (year)\whatever.ext. They all work.

Hi, I can't scrap extrafanart (Disc, Logo, etc) with the last addon release (using Leia) Is there something to configure/activate specifically?
Thx for your work btw!

RE: [Release] Universal Movie Scraper - olympia - 2018-01-22

Yes, you definitely need to enable the scraping of those as they are disabled by default.

I previously scraped Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone 2001 just fine...

But last night I scraped the same movie but it came up with a different name, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone 2001 and I think this name is for International release!!!
