Maybe also post a news post om http://xbmc.org main page too to encourage new translators?
No. We are planning to maintain one main project only. This will contain the current master till release version is branched. From that time it will contain the release branch strings until maintennance releases are made. After that, strings will be merged back to master and we'll track master again. So any translators need to track only this ONE translation project.
