RE: [RELEASE] 4oD (Video) Addon - UK Channel 4 on demand. v.3.0.7 - Mossy - 2013-03-11

Identify the script/plugin and or configuration that's causing the problem.

Start by configuring the 4od plugin the way you normally would. Confirm that it still works.
Then install and configure each plugin and script, testing the 4od plugin every time. When it stops working you know that the last installed plugin/script is the culprit.

Suggest you start with TvTunes, including the skin you normally use and any skin configuration required to get TvTunes working.

RE: [RELEASE] 4oD (Video) Addon - UK Channel 4 on demand. v.3.0.7 - shaktoo - 2013-03-13

Mossy , In my regular (not default) profile .. i disabled TV.Tunes script & tried 4OD --- same problem , then disabled Next.Aired Script ... but had the same issue.
My problem is i have a highly customised setup with all the bells & whistles and scripts & addons required .. .. I dont want to disable / uninstall most of them as they are enriching my xbmc experience ..
What I am going to do is uninstall rather then disable these scripts and then give it a try.
what i am wondering is though why are these being called when launching shows within 4OD ?
Has anyone else had the same issue ?

This is why i suggested starting with a default profile. You can add scripts, etc. without changing your normal XBMC setup.

If you prefer to work with your current profile then a divide and conquer strategy may be quicker especially if you have a large number of plugins. You should test half of your addons first. This will eliminate half of them. Then knowing which half contains the culprit test half again of that group, and so on until you narrow it down to just one.

A quick way of uninstalling and re-installing an addon is to move it's folder into a backup location (uninstall) and then later move it back (re-install). In this way you can quickly "uninstall" several addons at once, test for the problem and then "reinstall" some or all the "uninstalled" addons again.

In the following instructions there are two backup folders mentioned, the first is for addons that may or may not be the cause of the problem, the second backup folder is for addons that you have determined are not the cause of the problem, is for keeping those addons out of the way until you are finished testing.

  1. Go to C:\Users\Dr Amir\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\addons
  2. Move half of the script.* and plugin.* folders into the first backup folder (leave plugin.video.4od, script.module.socksipy, script.module.beautifulsoup)
  3. Run XBMC and the 4od plugin, see if the problem occurs, exit from XBMC
  4. If the problem occurs then one of the addons that you did not remove is causing it. This means that the addons in the first backup folder did not cause the problem, so move all the addons from the first backup folder to the second backup folder and continue from step 1
  5. If the problem does not occur then one of the addons that you did remove is causing it. This means that the addons in C:\Users\Dr Amir\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\addons did not cause the problem so firstly move all the script.* and plugin.* folders from C:\Users\Dr Amir\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\addons into the second backup folder (leave plugin.video.4od, script.module.socksipy, script.module.beautifulsoup) and then move half of the script.* and plugin.* folders from the first backup folder back into C:\Users\Dr Amir\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\addons and continue from step 3
  6. Continue in this way until you have found one addon that is causing the problem, then you can simply move all addons from the backup folders back into C:\Users\Dr Amir\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\addons and all will work as before.

The TvTunes, NextAired scripts seem to be called every time a menu item is selected, in order to start/stop the theme tunes as required, or whatever. However, the problem could be another script that doesn't show itself in debug log as clearly,

Mossy , tried with Uninstalling the two scripts but the problem is persisting, hmmmm what I didnt do was restart, will try that with the 2 scripts uninstalled and then retry. On other hand isnt the other RTE/TV3 addon not having similar problems with other users ?

RE: [RELEASE] 4oD (Video) Addon - UK Channel 4 on demand. v.3.0.5 - dazzla - 2013-03-16

Is this working on the Apple TV?

I'm on 11.0 on an Apple TV 2, 5.0.2.

My log file is here:

http://pastebin.com/gpmMafqq

Sometime the stream will start (rarely) but quit after less than a second.

Ar you using a SmartDNS or VPN service?

RE: [RELEASE] 4oD (Video) Addon - UK Channel 4 on demand. v.3.0.8 - Mossy - 2013-03-16

@dazzla looks like a connectivity problem, the plugin is saying it's not receiving data.

There was a bug in Irish TV that caused a download failed type error msg to appear after a susccessful download. That's the only download problem that I've seen with that plugin.

Hi Mossy

thanks for the update but I still cannot download.

I have tried with all addons removed except plugin.video.4od, script.module.socksipy, script.module.beautifulsoup

I am running Frodo on Windows 7.

The log is here: http://www.xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=4765

Are you able to help?

Many thanks

I don't really understand that as iPlayer works OK on the ATV, as does downloading subs and the like. I also tested the PS3 4oD website from my laptop and it was fine. I've just wiped and installed Frodo (the latest nightly) and updated the ATV to 5.2, I'll give it a go again.

Edit, works fine now. 3.0.9 on Frodo, the latest nightly.

RE: [RELEASE] 4oD (Video) Addon - UK Channel 4 on demand. v.3.0.9 - Mossy - 2013-03-16

@bobsburger

WindowsError(740, 'The requested operation requires elevation'). See here - http://windows-exe-errors.com/windows-error-740-the-requested-operation-requires-elevation/

This means that Windows needs your permission to run rtmpdump.exe from XBMC.

If possible you need to get Windows to allow you to run rtmpdump.exe as a standard user. Otherwise you can turn UAC off (not secure) or run XBMC with permission to run as an administrator or with UAC, see here - http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=150769
