Hello,
I'm sorry for asking this question this long after the opening of this thread but i have been trying for a long time to get this working.
i have one anime series (naruto) and i cant get it all to show in my library its stops after about 100 episodes. i'v tried all kinds of scrapers and edited the advancesettings xml with different things but i cant get it to work.
can u write me one easy step by step guide for what i need to do to get this working?
Please, this is really killing me.

Hi,
This is the closest I could find to "support" for the XEM scraper. If there's a more correct place, please let me know.
The XEM scraper no longer successfully scrapes seasons that do not require remapping. This is because thexem.de removed its tvdb proxy and all season entries that have direct mapping across all supported sources from its database. As such, scraping needs to fallback to another scraper if thexem.de search results are empty. I am not familiar enough with the scraper "architecture" to know if this is feasible as-is, or needs support from core. I can assist with any necessary core changes, but reading URL encoded regex I CBA with.

That's basically how it works. It generates urls to tvdb from the xem mapping and adds them to the episode list. Everything else that isn't on xem is passthrough to thetvdb

Right, I guess I'll need to gather some more info then. Will try to get to that this evening.
The series I was having trouble with is Futurama (http://thexem.de/xem/show/956 , http://thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=73871&lid=7 ). Only S01 an S02 (the ones on XEM) make it into the library. I'll grab a log with that scan in isolation, but IIRC the search results returned empty for the later seasons.

No, you were right about the proxy
It's 3 years ago since I last looked at it. I made a quick fix at https://github.com/tamland/xbmc-xem/commits/dev which instead adds all episodes from both xem and thetvdb (xem episodes listed first). It appears to work fine for futurama at least. Could you give it some testing?

Fix confirmed working for Futurama and also Dual Survival, which I hadn't realized needed XEM until today. Rescanned American Dad! to be sure all was still well there and it is! Nice work and thanks for the quick response!
An aside. You should probably update the info in addon.xml so it isn't so difficult for people to find support in the future.

Hi, just stumbled upon this scraper after my AniDB stopped working. Not sure what happened to them, but after looking over Xem I don't see any reason to go back to there! No more numbering mess for my anime.
But... I do have a problem with the names. I assume 'ja' in the settings should fetch JP names from http://thexem.de, but it still takes EN every time no matter what. Would love to have all my anime in the library as I know them as opposed to translated names.

I added this addon and episode title is showing OK. but the episode number is wrong (using episode from file, not from XEM mapping)

You posted in the TVDB scraper thread. I have split your posts and moved them to the XEM scraper thread.
Sorry but I have never used XEM. The scraper has not been updated in a few years and the changes at TVDB have most certainly broken it.
@takoi and/or @gbandit are the developers of the scraper but neither have posted on the forum for well over a year.
I think for now you will have to accept it is broken until further notice and move onto another scraper.
