Hi,
does XBMC support 4K resolution? If doesn't it would be very useful to add it. 4K content is more and more available.
I tried 4 different videos with resolution 4K and it didn't work
I had green screen and I heard just a sound.Here is more information about video:

I am using Ivy Bridge i7-3770 which has 4K support with Intel HD4000 and graphic HD7950 with native 4K support. Both play content in Windows Media Player, but not in XBMC.

2 minutes of file is 500mb so the average 90 m in movie would be 22.5gb WOW

Leading edge early adopters will still want this, and streamed over the network devices capable of it. I suspect the big problems will be assumptions based on now almost decade old standards about bitrates in the caching code and file handling.

Turn off hardware decoding and it should play fine:
Settings/Videos/Playback (wiki)

Any full HD display can play this content with downscaling, but I am probably going to use a projector Sony VPL-VW1000ES.
On the market there is lot of TVs supporting 4K as well:
Toshiba 55ZL2
LG brought up 84" 4K TV last week. http://www.about-electronics.eu/2012/08/24/ifa-2012-lg-launches-worlds-first-84in-4k-ud-tv-but-sony-and-toshiba-are-close-behind/
I think prices will go down soon. Maybe even this Christmas some manufacture will introduce low budget one. It is matter of time.

After switching hardware decoding I can see image but it is still lugging quite lot and sound is interrupting as well..
In Windows Media Player Home Cinema playback is smooth without lugs and with better quality of image..

The LG model may be available in the US next month.
4K is coming, but for now it's really just for those with a lot of cash to burn. It'll take years before any media is available. For the short term it'll mainly be upscaled BR.

the only reason for me for a 4k panel would be to watch 3D in full 1080p when using a polarizer (or a 100"+ screen - aka room wall)
